USA. Everywhere else would be nice to VISIT, but not to live. I've become so spoiled by Southern Cali weather that it's gonna be hard to leave HERE even.

i think ppl think it is great because there is not that much racism and there are very many cultures mixed in the most populated areas.
Plus there are not that many murders yet.

but it's boring as hell!
when they say "let's go get a drink", they mean they're going to go get bubble tea! what the hell is that? everywhere else that means they're gonna get something alcoholic!
but it's all cool. i have friends and relatives in canada. it's chill there and people are friendly.

what's up w/ karaoke and bbt, is it still popular?
Wrong ppl you hung out w/ who chose to do that.
A drink is a drink to me, not bbt.
there aren't very many asian drinkers like me around here.
i've built up a tolerance to certain liquors and beer so i can drink alot of it w/o getting an allergic reaction.
I think that a lot of chinese and taiwanese around here are straight edge and don't spend money on drinking, instead they buy cute japanese stuff and nice cars?

Kinda funny but, almost all of the outward racism or race-based hostility that I have experienced has been in Canada (more specifically, Vancouver and Toronto). Canada may be diverse (just like many parts of the U.S.) but from what I've experienced, it doesn't mean that the people are more accepting. :( :D

the general feeling i get is that more people in canada than in the US are in denial that racism exists in their respective country. on the one hand it makes canadians more easy going than americans, but on the other, they're probably not addressing certain issues that may need to be addressed.

I think you should look at this in perspective:historically, Britain was the first country in the Western world to abolish slavery; Britain never had any laws preventing interracial marriages; It never had any laws preventing Asians from entering the country. The BBC gives good and fair coverage of worldwide events unlike the major American newsnetworks. For instance if the BBC and related English TV networks produces documentary about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict then it would'nt give a one dimensional pro-Israeli view; rather it would give a fair and balanced two-dimensional view towards the problem in question.
Of course, there is racism which exists in the world and England is no exception, although I doubt we have reached the stage that America is in at the moment. America seems overtly concerned with race - perhaps a legacy of their history? I sense you can cut the racial tension with a knife over there.
i don't know much european history, but i have a lot of doubt about it being more racially tolerant than some other european countries.
racial riots involving south asians aside... what about the irish? and the scottish? they're pretty looked down upon by the english. there's also the fact that the UK government is pretty much the american government's lap dog now.

I think that you're more accepted if you speak good english.
I think a lot of ppl can't handle that. Including me. I can't stand accents.

The English compared to the Irish and Scottish are more accepting of minorities - believe me. I've been to Scotland and the people there were some of the most rudest people I have ever met. I really believe they don't like ethnic minorities over there. Oh, and what makes you think the Scottish, Irish and the Welsh don't hate the English? If anything these celts hate the English alot more than the English hating them.
1) i never said that the scots, irish, and welsh don't hate the english.
2) when you said "england", i assumed you meant the UK, and that would happen to include scotland.

I think that the Germans are by far the worst culprits for European racism in Europe along with the French although the French are not as bad. The Germans seem very nationalistic to me (a bit too much) and they give you a really scrutinising stare when they see foreigners.
the germans, i think we're very accepting of me. i used to live there, and thought they were very helpful and continually offered encouragement. i don't know what part of germany you went to, but i found the Germans to be very hospitable. the other villagers would often bring cake and other goodies to my house, or invite me to theirs. the good-naturedness seemed to decrease the farther west i went, however, i never got to England so i can't honestly say anything, good or bad, about them.
as for my ideal place to live, home, and everybody knows home is where the heart is. ....how corny was that?

i don't think we're ALL in denial although there are a percentage of us that are.
i just don't think that racism appears as often as in other places.
I think a general feeling in Canada is that we need immigrants to better the economy and moral fabric of society. Prolly at least a third of the doctors, dentists and pharmacists in vancouver are chinese. And look at all the engineers and business ppl.

SWK, you must've hung around weird people. Here, it's all about beer and coffee. It's not boring at all. I live in Toronto. It's just what you make of your time, and what people you hang out with. Only one of my good friends drinks bubbletea. But then again, he's the only Asian in our group other than me. But he hardly ever mentions it. Whenever we say "let's get a drink", we mean "let's get smashed."
I've visited other places before. Such as the US, many times. I'm sorry, but I hate it. Especially Florida. What a god awful place.

The US is fine for me, since I was born and raised here, but I'd love to live in Japan, almost like a "connecting with my roots" type thing.
