Military asian guys aren't any better than non-military asian guys. I think that some military asian guys have inflated egos, and think they're better than they actually are.

This youtube video is a case in point:

Asian-Americans in the military are no different than non-Asians in the military.

That youtube video has nothing to do with Asians in the military.

most asian american men who I've known who have served
(drafted and career types) don't appear to me to have
inflated egos. If anything the biggest impact of the military
on men that I've seen is philosophical - they are more
likely to believe that fate/destiny/chance has a hand
in their life and that there are some things that are out
of their control. The other non dysfunctional
psychological outlook that I've associated with military
service is a tendency to live for the day - carpe diem
seize the day attitude...live life to the fullest.

Rather than military service - my experience has been
that high social status (e.g. post graduate education,
extreme wealth, powerful political connections) tend to
make a person ( male or female) egotistical and snobby.

Also people who are physically attractive are often
egotistical as well. Since asian descent men are not normally
considered good looking by mainstream American standards
- this tends to make asian descent men in the USA less
egotistical. Since asian descent women can be considered
attractive in mainstream American standards this tends
to make asian descent women in the USA more egotistical
albeit most asian descent women would say that only
a minority of asian descent women would fall into
the stereotypical asian category of female beauty.

Well it depends really.
My father is in the Navy Reserves, as a doctor. He's anything but someone with an ego. Although he is very critical of anyone who isn't immediate family.

I see your point. Asian Americans are changing, they're assimilating more. So while a genius Asian might still go to a university (probably due to family and cultural pressures) an "average" (notice the quotations) Asian is apt to look at after high school options in a more "American" way. Smarter people in general (not just asians) tend to be more socially awkward, and a more social individual will undoubted assimilate better. Those with larger "egos" are probably more "socially capable" of operating in American society.
