i'm a veteran poster here and my rep power bars should reflect that. yet mine have been few in number and red since i started posting here. i find this unfair. the problem is that a poster's rep power is determined not by him, but by others, including those that don't like him. so the best solution is to change how rep power is calculated. i haven't worked out the kinks on that front yet, but at a minimum a disclaimer should be displayed somewhere making clear that "rep power" may not be a true reflection of the status of a poster, especially when it suggests a low reputation.

people already know when you joined. it says "Joined:" on your profile on every post you make.

(except for that time back in 2002 when we all had to re-register).

I think your disclaimer should be:

first, i'd like you to understand "why" i'm here: chance. i googled something about asians (likely something asiaphilic) and yellowworld.com came up. the site is interesting because it's one of a kind, or at least one of a kind to a black man who hasn't had a lot of online contact with asians aside from some internet pornography (emphasis on "some").

I think your disclaimer should be:

did you make this up or did he really write it?!?!

There's also

I think you just hate China.

Actually my ex girlfriend was half Chinese and half white. I believe you call these people "hapas." She was crazy, yes, and a wild woman, sure, but the fact that I chose her as my girlfriend should tell you that I don't hate the Chinese.

I think either works well as disclaimers.

Hands up...who here, after reading this, immediately heaped more negative karma on him?

I mean, seriously. You don't even have 100 posts. How does that qualify you for veteran status exactly? Also when you DO post, it's all garbage. So....we should give you positive karma for being a d-bag? Sorry, that's not how it works here. Go back to searching for your pr0n.

i haven't worked out the kinks on that front yet,

LOL You can start by looking up "reputation" in the dictionary.

I have to admit that I'm with pika and wongba. I almost uped him for the comedic value.

It's the content of your post not your "rep power" that matters.
As long as I get to get my say I don't care what my "rep power" is.
You don't get to appreciated that
until you get banned like I was for just saying stuff.
Pisses me off even today.
I played by the rules - and I got treated like shit.

why did they ban you? there are many hyper-sensitive people here, but i didn't realize they banned people over simple disagreements. that's not the right way to run a discussion board.

why didn't they ban you yet? there are many hyper-asshole people joining here, but i didn't realize they join solely for disagreements. that's not the right way to run a life.

Well. The right way to run a board would be ban weird perverted asiaphiles like you who lower the average intelligence quotient of the board.
But pity happens to be a strong emotion.

I previously posted on soc.culture.asian.american (SCAA)
via google.com until my account was banned.
Google gave neither warning nor reason for cancelling
my account.

SCAA is now a digital wasteland - the
target of spamming and web-bot postings.

Thank you for clearing that up, that it was not YW that banned you.
