Today on the way to work I was hit by a car while riding my bike and only suffered a few cuts here and there.

The lady who hit me bought me a new bike despite the fact that the only thing I seemed to be worried about was going to school late. I told her not to worry about it so much and I was lucky to be okay. I am only hurt a tiny bit and the bike wasn't really broken, so the only thing that was really damaged oddly enough was the car and me. Thank god I didn't hit my head or break my back or anything.

That would have seriously sucked.

But she felt highly responsible for it, and bought me a new bike even tho i told her the old one was fine. And since I wasn't hurt everything was okay.. But she went to go buy one anyway.

WHOA. You're so lucky Eugene. Only cuts and a new bike *which ya can prolly sell online somewhere  *.

Last time I got hit off my bike was when I was biking downhill and got clipped from behind by a car that was trying to pass me....I end overed *think back wheel of bicycle flying over the front one....and me still on it* I slammed chin first into the pavement and graced myself with a lovely scar while the jerk sped off. The bike was jacked too....rear rim was bent totally out of shape, the handlebars are bent as was the fork of the front end of the bike......sooo

you have small cuts and a new bike and I had a fat scar/FAT unstitched laceration and a ruined bicycle.

Good job for you Eugene!! :P

I'm very glad to hear you are okay BTR. :o

I assume she wasn't going very fast then? How exactly did it happen?? What are you going to do with the new bike then?

Hey BTR, glad to hear that you're OK.

We would've missed you and wondered what happened if you didn't come around!

Well, she was not going too fast... maybe 10 at the most. The problem is that the streets here are really narrow and there is no sidewalk in some places. I'm going to ride the new bike cuz she said she would keep the old one...

Go you, BeTheReds.

I got hit by a van when I was four years old while crossing the street with my mom. I was okay (except for a bloody nose), but my mom was hospitalized for a long time.

Hey, at least you got a new bike out of it.

My man got hit by a car on his bike. Really really hard. Really really bad. He few to the other side of the street and way laying there. The guy in the car pulled over and waited for him to try to get up. As soon as he saw that my man was moving, he took the fuck off. Jerk. YOU BROKE MY BOYFRIEND'S ARM, ASSHOLE!

I really hope you were wearing a helmet. If not, I guess you realize why you should wear one.

Glad to hear you're okay BTR. When I was a kid, growing up near the Calle Mayor / Anza intersection in Torrance, I got hit a shitload of times while walking or riding my bike.

Either they make us Koreans pretty tough or we just suck as pedestrians and cyclists.

At least she felt bad enough to do SOMETHING. Most people probably woulda just given you a fake apology and been done with it.

Wow BTR, glad to see you weren't hurt. When I was in elementary school, I knew a pair of twin sisters. One ran out into the street and an approaching car couldn't see her from between the cars, she was hit and killed. That was heartbreaking. The dude that hit her was crying and the mother and sister were crying, everyone was crying and it wasn't really anyones fault, just one of those really, really shitty things that happen.

I used to ride about 5000 miles a year as a bike messenger, recreational rider. I find it funny that I got hit when there was barely any traffic. As a bike messenger, I rode in the middle of downtown traffic dodging cars, people, etc for around six months with no accidents. I finally got hit by a van. Bounced off the side... no damage... didn't even fall over but I did fly off the bike. I was riding with clipless pedals and clipped in at the time also.

Traffic laws here are different so assigning fault would makes no sense. If this happened in the USA, then it would most likely be my fault, however in the USA we have sidewalks almost everywhere so I wouldn't have been in the street. However in Japan it is the fault of the driver no matter what if the car was moving and it hits a bike or pedestrian. That's probably why she felt so inclined to help me so much, because legally I can sue her up the ass, but of course I am not an asshole and actually, her car was damaged. Even so, if people speed away after accidents, then they are assholes.

Gonna buy me a helmet later.

I got hit and knocked unconscious when I was eight. I was riding my friend's bike and it was a little bit too big for me. A car was coming down the street and I went to get out of the way, but wasn't used to the bike's handling and didn't get out of the street in time. Don't remember too much, except that I woke up on my friend's couch and his mom was wiping my bloody mess of a face with a washcloth.

Just the other week, I was mountain biking and taking jumps off the bumps on the trail. I messed one up and landed half off the trail, dug into the dirt and went over the bars, still clipped into the pedals. I landed and skidded on my face. Got myself a nice shiner, a scratched-up face, a chipped tooth and tweaked my neck.

Geeze, I am dumb.

Oh no buoy....just clumsy! Glad to hear you came out of all your bike accidents okay.

I don't think I've ridden a bike since I was 12. I wonder if it's true what they say, "you never forget."

I wasn't paying attention once and endoed into the hood of a parked car and dented it with my face when i was 10.

Other than that, i've caused a few accident's but avoided them all. I almost ran over a baby once w/ the mother about to have a heart attack but i deaked away at the last second. I saw the expression of the toddler's face of shock as she blinked when i came around a corner behind my friends. I prolly had the same look.

Hooray for BMX's, love them!

BTR, good to hear you're alright. Did you call the cops or was it not that serious?

Actually, BTR, in Los Angeles, bikes aren't allowed on sidewalks, you're supposed to ride in the street. And any time a pedestrian or cyclist gets hit by a car, it's the driver's fault.
