What are the must have car options and features for a new car?
What is your justification for these car options? For example,
Automatic Transmisssion - cause u cant drive manual.
Air Conditioner - cause its really hot during the summer where u are.
AC Cabin Filter - cause u have a bad case of hayfever
Car Alarm - cause car breakins/thefts are common in your area
a navigational computer - for the traveling salesperson.
bluetooth - to connect to your cell phone
Ipod/usb jack - to connect the stereo with an MP3 player
front and side airbags - cause you don't want to die
DVD player for rear passengers - because it keeps the kids under control
a large flat cargo area - for the fido's dog crate or kitty's carrying crate.
Airbags all around - Safety first!
6-speed or some sort of clutchless "manual" (e.g., Porsche's PDK) - It's more fun to drive
Bluetooth - 'cause hands free is the law (in Cali)!
Navi w/touch screen input - Great for going to new, unfamiliar locations; touch screen because using a mouse/cursor for input is too cumbersome
Voice control - Really a toy, but everyone should have their own personal KITT
Realtime traffic - More a toy than anything since, around LA, the freeways will always be yellow or red anyway
Keyless entry and start - Keys are so 20th Century
Remote trunk release - Don't want to mess with inserting and turning a key when your hands are full
Auxiliary jack - Not everyone has an ipod
HD Radio - Not even sure this is offered on cars yet, but it should be

All those options listed above are pretty much standard in today's cars.
I'm still old school and I still drive a manual/standard LOL.
I never had any options as I kinda crimp when it comes to options on cars, I found I never really had a use for any of the options unless it was super good.
Last new car I purchased, I only bargained for mats and boot mat.

hehe... me too...
cuz i dont know how to drive stick shift...
also, i have windows that you have to still roll down..
i prefer it that way than power windows
having power windows
is just one thing that
could possibly break on me...
anyways, going to a car dealership to buy
a car is just so stressful.
but i'm thinking of buying a kia spectra car...
just want air bags...
and A/c and uh, radio...
i already have a bluetooth..
so yeah, i dont need a built in one..

huh? I drive a manual/standard/stick shift...
so I'm not sure how u can drive a manual if you cant drive a stick shift.

Between the hundreds of thousands of collective miles driven in cars with power windows owned by various family members, I am glad to say that the only power window failure we experienced was on a door that was improperly repaired after it was damaged in an accident. When the window was lowered completely, it severed the wiring to the motor, thus preventing it from raising up again. That's not a typical occurrence.
Now, having said that, I'm sure the windows in my car will fail on the way home from work today. Thanks!

yeah, i recently visited a car stealership...
i mean, dealership the other day...
phew, they actually didnt end up taking my money..
i believe i was looking at a hyundai
and i was like looking at their lower end...
like it was a very BAsic BAsic car...
with none of that flashy accessory stuff...
it didnt even have a radio...
but yeah, it was a car that had no power windows.
the car that i own now
is my very first and only car i ever owned in
my lifetime. its a '96 geo prizm that i bought
in the year 2000... and i find that its still
going on strong and that its still a reliable car...
but i'm thinking of buying a new car now
before i get into the situation where
my car totally dies and i'm stuck
stranded somewhere...
my current car is pretty basic.
automatic, roll down window, radio
and airbags just in the front seat tho...
i have a/c but that doesnt work anymore
and i find its not worth fixing...
cuz fixing it would cost more than
what my car is actually worth...
anyways, when i went into the car dealership...
i was like wow...
so overwhelmed with all the special features
and options that they were trying to explain
to me that came with the cars they were trying to sell me...
it seemed sorta alluring to me in a way...
like they were THAt close in taking my money
but at the last minute, i'm glad i decided to walk away tho...
and that i didnt buy it on an impulse whim...
all i really want is
air bags all around, radio, and a working a/c...
all the other stuff to me
is like cool stuff, but not stuff i necessarily need...

To be really honest, there are probably only four real necessities when you think about it:
1. Air Con (unless you live in a place that never gets beyond 20C)
2. Power Steering
3. Air Bags
4. ESP and ABS
All the other optional shit is useless junk...but thats the irony, most things listed are today's "standard" features.

You can have all the TORQUE you want but unless you address the rear end and suspension your going to be a gigantic DANGEROUS sit and spin....
