Kim Dong-hyun and Choo Sung-hoon (aka Yoshihiro Akiyama) both won their bouts at the UFC 100.

Welterweight Kim defeated T.J. Grant in a unanimous decision, and middleweight Choo was victorious over Alan Belcher in a split decision.

I believe Belcher got robbed against Akiyama. Belcher's performance was just a lot better imho.

My personal favorite moment though was Dan Henderson knocking Michael Bisping the fuck out. I just found it funny how Bisping talked all this shit when they were coaching Ultimate Fighter, then Henderson finally responded (after holding it in) by calling Bisping a douchebag, then Bisping starts whining how Henderson is talking shit and is going to knock him out. Yeah, we were all chanting USA when Bisping got laid out by two hard punches by Henderson.

i'm really surprised both asian fighters won. Usually UFC or MMA will get some no-named asian fighters from asia to come to the states to lose to the white fighters. American pride! yah!

I did watch the Akiyama/Belcher fight. It was clear Akiyama won the first two rounds. The third round, both fighters were pretty much gased. However, if there was a 4th round, Belcher probably would have been able to TKO Akiyama. He was exhausted.

The knock out power of Sexy-yama's sexiness should never be underestimated.

i can't think of many asian fighters who could compete for the belt in the ufc. gomi got owned, uno has been owned a couple of times i think, nakamura owned, chonan = owned. i don't really believe ufc brings asian fighters in to lose, asian fighters kinda do that on their own cause you know...they're the ones fighting and losing.

anyway, just like in all other sports, asians can't excel right now. in pride's heyday the best champions were all non-asians with the exception of gomi who kinda owned the lw division.

but i agree the akiyama/belcher fight was close. 'robbed' is too strong a word because neither fighter displayed dominance. it's not like hamill/bisping where one fighter(hamil) clearly owned the other(bisping).

One thing's for sure. Akiyama can take a punch! or two!

Not many Asian fighters, in imo, have a strong chin.

Its moments like that why MMA had that bad reputation- where Henderson punched Bisping in the face even though Bisping was already out and defenseless.
