Arthur Hu, controversial Asianweek columnist and noted Asian supremacist (he constantly touts Asians as the model minority and writes a ton of RACIST articles disparaging blacks for their "lack" of academic achivement and intelligence) wrote some inappropriate and quite tasteless comments about the VT shooter "snapping" b/c he was being upstaged by his sister who went to Princeton.

TxBluesMan, one thing I did note about the FLDS case vs the Asians is that however whacked out their beliefs are and whatever they do to their kids, they have never produced a Virginia Tech or Binghamton mass killer, and I doubut the ever will. They don’t have this “Harvard or Bust” mentality. Asians are generally pretty quiet and well behaved, but when we/they are bad, they are very, very bad. I find the LDS and FLDS interesting vs the Asians as they are some of the few groups with an even more restrictive traditional culture than the Asians, though they have not (yet) evolved to be force to be reckoned with on elite college campuses.

The VT guy was upset about being upstaged by her sister who went to Princeton and getting laughed by both girls and even the Korean kids were mean to him. What was bugging the Vietnamese guy remains to be seen, but it looks like he didnt achieve the “Asian American model minority” dream either.

BTW, check out the progress on the first FLDS raid book in the works, “The Flowers Cried in Texas” at

http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=dfthx7q4_1316cjphj3fw

In case people need an introduction, I’be been a/the conservative columnist on Asian Week, but drawn to this blog by the FLDS raid issues.

If I ever met this guy, I seriously want to punch him in the mouth (and NO, I'm not actually going to do that, it's more a metaphorical thing to express how upset I am at his tasteless comment).

Arthur Hu, I think you are a jerk and a complete douchebag to exploit a national tragedy in order to promote your propaganda of Asians as the model minority and in your twisted logic, a superior race.

Hey Arthur Hu, do you know that the President of the United States is BLACK (yes, biracial, but still Black)?

Arthur Hu, this is war. I left this comment on his article:

On 4/5/09, Arthur Hu wrote:

"The VT guy was upset about being upstaged by her sister who went to Princeton and getting laughed by both girls and even the Korean kids were mean to him. What was bugging the Vietnamese guy remains to be seen, but it looks like he didnt achieve the “Asian American model minority” dream either."

Arthur Hu, you deserve to be called out for what you really are: a racist and an Asian supremacist. You constantly like to tout Asians as a superior race by virtue of their "model minority" status. You think that Asians are better than everybody else by virtue of them attending elite universities "at a higher percentage."

You also constantly degrade black people. In many of your previous columns, you like to disparage blacks b/c of your allegations of inferior academic achievement and lower attendance at elite universities. News flash Mr. Hu, the President of the United States is BLACK (okay biracial, but still Black). You better start liking it Mr. Hu; the race you despise has one of their own running this country, and he's doing a lot better than than Bush idiot. If you can't tolerate a Black person as President, why don't you head back to Asia (or better yet, just move to Canada if Asia is not convenient for you)?

BTW, the percentage of Asians attending Ivy League schools is NOT 30%. It's more like 10 to 20%. I believe Penn is the only Ivy that has an Asian American percentage of over 20% (25%). Jews attend Ivies, even now, at a higher percentage (between 30 to 40%). Get over your Asian supremacist bull. Asians are not the most superior race, EVEN if they do attend Ivy League universities at a higher percentage than other minorities.

What I further find sickening is your tasteless comment above. You exploit a national tragedy in order to promote your "asians as a model minority" propaganda garbage. You don't seem to understand that having to live up to the model minority status is the very reason why Asians these days are suffering from shocking levels of depression, mental illnesses, and even suicide attempts. I in no way condone what Seung-Hui cho did, it was absolutely horrifying, but at the same time, he's a person who's had significant mental illnesses and never got the adequate treatment he needed. If anything, this tragedy is an indictment of the mental health care system and they failed Cho just as much as he scarred the Asian American community and out nation. This tragedy is also a further indictment of the Asian American community. We are godd@mn cowards who are more interested in sucking up to the model minority image than actually helping others in need -- including our very own community.

To show your lack of compassion for someone who could not get the help he desperately needed shows you truly are a jerk. You can brag about your MIT degrees and your supposed superior intellect b/c you are Chinese-Vietnamese, but you are also one of the biggest jerks I've had the displeasure of meeting -- even though I have never met you in person.

You have much better writing than he does. He's really a journalist? He needs to join me at the School For Kids Who Don't Read So Good.

Uh oh, Arthur Hu. You just made yourself a powerful internet enemy. Pray for a quick internet death.

if that's the way Art Hu writes on a blog when he does not spellcheck, then IMHO his spelling and syntax errors are subtle indicators that he is not being completely sincere.

also, he'd fit right in in Vancouver but would get in trouble in parts of the Prairie provinces and maybe Montreal.

tho, my bet is he'd find our political system too pinko for his right-wing neocon peabrain.

just by reading his comments, i find him to be a potential bully, and to be down right mean.

it's such a waste of intelligence to be racist, and to think one is better than others.

Admittedly, I don't think Arthur Hu is a racist per se. You won't be seeing him donning KKK uniforms and lynching blacks and hispanics.

But he is definitely one of those racial supermacists (rememba Kenneth Eng?) who genuinely looks down on Blacks and Hispanics (and even whites for that matter) b/c they are "lower" than Asians. He uses a lot of statistics to justify his "Asians as a superior race" motif (e.g., Asians go to Ivy League schools at a higher percentage, etc.).

Of course he will deny it and use the whole "I'm just pointing out the statistics" justification for his racial beliefs.

A lot of older East Asians unfortunately have held Arthur Hu's point of view. They genuinely believe that East Asians are somehow superior to everybody else. Why else has this model minority garbage been upheld for so long? East Asians (especially the older ones) want to maintain that status quo. IT's a way of making them feel like they are better than everybody else. Most East Asians don't share that view, but more do than we are willing to admit.

I would really care less right now about the Arthur Hu's of the world that didn't grow up, honestly. I'd rather see more young people educated.

Also the problem with Arthur Hu or any incarnations of him, including conservative white academics, who use model minority or raw statistics to make claims, is exposure and people listening and paying attention more than anything. It's unfortunate we hear more about the Arthur Hu's of the world than the Chris Illjimas or the Grace Lee Boggs of the world.

Re-reading the article, especially in light of Hu's response to my (admittedly vicious) attack, it has come to my attention that perhaps Hu was being satirical and/or possibly even making fun of the cutthroat mentality of Asians. I dunno. It's hard to tell, but maybe he was being sarcastic when he talked about Asians having the "Harvard or bust" mentality (or subtlely criticizing Asians for thinking this way).

Still think he's a jerk and a douchebag though.

IMHO that's because Chris and Grace won't boast about rescuing a baby from a fire, but when praised will say "I'm just an ordinary joe, who acted out of compassion and concern for an innocent life".

My loonie is on Hu, when asked why he didn't rescue the baby, to say "It ain't my call to make."

In order to fit in society, we can't pick and choose who we are helping. Being helpful is supposed to be color-blind. Otherwise, we'd be just as biased as everyone else in the world.

Hu is an elitist with a pathetic website. Not to mention he is a racist. So to me he is a banana, or white wannabe.
