View Full Version : How do you celebrate Xmas?

Do you have a Christmas tree during this holiday season? What kind of tree? Is it plastic or a real pine tree? I am not ashamed to admit that my parents have ALWAYS had a FAKE tree. I've always liked it since I was little until I realize that my cousin's tree is a real one. Since then, I always thought mine was tacky. You see, I don't know about your family, but all my family cares about is practicality. They don't like to maintain anything but green leaves that grow out of a flower pot. Goodness, my mom can't even take care of a goldfish.. Ok, sorry. I got sidetracked with the idiosyncracies of my family. Anyway, now that I think about it, although it would be nice to have a real pine tree in the house, I started to think like an environmentalist... at least I was trying to justify the plastic tree my family's always had since I was little. As for what we do, usually, we would have a huge feast full of YUMMY food, talk about our lives (especially in terms what I'm making of myself), and finally, we'd open presents. With the exception of my cousin-in-law, my uncle, and I, my entire family's not Christian, but we've celebrated this holiday as long as I can remember.

house is too messy to have anywhere to put a tree. so we get one that fits on the kitchen table.

My parents put up a fake christmas tree every year (For the past few years now, we used to not celebrate Christmas), I guess it would be real if it wasnt for my mom and my brother having allergies and stuff hehehe
I don't really mind that it's a fake tree, I think buying real trees every year is just a plain waste of trees :D
Goin back to not celebrating it before. We did celebrate it when me and my brother were really young, but then my parents quit celebrating it until I was a Soph. in highschool, now we have celebrated it eversince.
Usually my mom just has my brothers and I put up the tree and decorate it. Then she puts some "christmasy" type decorations on the coffee table and family room. I also go shopping with my mom to help her pick out gifts for our relatives and everything, and help her wrap them and put them under the tree. On Christmas we usually have a few people come over our house and we make a few stops at relatives' houses too, exchanging gifts and eating. I think one of the last things we do, to end Christmas that year is my mom always insists on us taking family pics infront of the tree we also do this at my relatives house...LOL My mom and pictures!!! Then by New Year's my mom makes my brothers and I take the tree and decorations down and box it back up for the next year :)

My family celebrated Christmas til I was 5 only......I remember because I got my favorite stufffed Smurf that year *he disappeared mysterious one night from my bed when I was 10 and replaced with my current overly stuff FAT bear* Anyways, did the whole lights and stuff in my sister's room....it was great, I'd crawl into her room and snuggle up with her and watch the blinking lights until we fell asleep. Too bad you can't get me in the same room with ehr anymore.....eh......stopped celebrating at home after that....more at other extended families' houses every year after that.....

we visit family and friends in so cal. on christmas eve, we always go to yorba linda, to my dad's best friend, uncle jerry's mom's house for their annual party. christmas day, my cousins and uncles go over to my grandma's for food, to open presents and eat. it's pretty boring since my grandma lives in friggen riverside. <_< there's absolutely nothing to do there. NOTHING.
we always had real christmas trees until a few years ago, when my mother discovered the glory of those fake plastic ones. she buys this tree scented stuff and leaves it under the tree to compensate for the missing christmas tree smell. it's an essential part of having a tree.
my dad usually puts lights on the house, too. i love lights. they're soo pretty. this year, i'm planning on putting some lights up in my room, too. why? because i love christmas. christmas songs, the light decorations, etc. :)
I celebrate Christmas with family. We always have traditional Christmas food: turkey, stuffing, gravy and ,ugh, green sprouts! Also, we also open presents and stuff

my family is extremely christian, so no christmas tree, no presents, no decorations, just lots of church services growing up  ...
but i think i'm going to give them presents this year cuz i haven't seen them in over two years and i miss them and i think it's sillee not to give presents cuz it's a lot of fun and i think they're missing out and since i'm an "adult" now, they can't tell me it's not allowed (WUHOO!! :P )
but anyways, so christmas growing up was just lotsa church. last year i worked thru the holidays so didn't celebrate christmas. this year - i dunno. i just helped my bf put up a fake xmas tree at his house and it was a lot of fun :P . nuthing else planned so far, but mebee i should start thinking of shtuff to do :).

You really don't think of doing that! Mrs. Claus maybe. But Santa?
When I was little, we used to cut one down... ocassionally the Charlie Brown type. Lately, we buy the real ones. I'm on duty this year (25th and 26th) so the married with children soldiers can go home. So I'll be celebrating w/ a tree made from K'nex, and my bullet proof vest. hey, leadership demands sacrifice.
