View Full Version : Driving Withdrawl?

Erhm. Yeh. I've been trying to avoid driving for the sake of my pocket book. $3.51 for a gallon of regular is cheap around San Francisco, today. It hasn't even been 5 days, and I'm already sick of the busses, and miss the privacy and total at home feeling of my own car. Anyone else ever have similar feelings when detached from their cars for... well, hopefully longer periods of time than I have had to deal with?

It's not so much withdrawal from the feeling of driving in your own car as it is just having gotten lazy and spoiled and not wanting to wait whenever you wanna go somewhere or God forbid ...walk xD

Does San Francisco has a bus pass system (sticker on badge) like the South Bay buses or CalTran ? I know my work paid for EcoPasses for all the employees when I was there. So, I was the cheapskate, and I used the time on the bus to surf the Internet, read, sometimes do some homework for grad school, etc. I typically only used the bus on the weekends there and inclement weather. If Frisco has a bus pass system it's probably not too hard to get a hold of a sticker from some employee that doesn't want to use it ;-)

Haven't driven a car in almost four years now. Don't miss it, either. At least on the bus/train/subway, I can get shit done instead of having to pay attention to the road.

You calling me out as being lazy, hubes?!
......cuz it's true. I used to walk and bike everywhere. Then I moved outta the house and got my license and my string of cars.....yeah....my friend's gf told me I'd get lazier from driving, since she's known me for years now....
Craig, the badges around here for the San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority are the work badges for the SFMTA. They not only grant you unlimited access to the Muni system, but they grant you access to their buildings and such as well. Oh yeah, they're also picture IDs so you can't just pass those things along, as people use those badges to go to work in the offices.
Just got back from a week long, car-less vacation. Although I didn't miss it at the time, as soon as I got behind the wheel I felt like I was "home." I love driving and the freedom and flexibility it brings. That being said, given gas prices and traffic, I would love it if Los Angeles had better public transportation so I could commute via bus and/or subway. I'd still want to drive on weekends though, mostly for the fun of it.

I've grown to hate driving.
Had to drive to work for about three years and hated the 30-minute commute going through a stretch notorious for collisions.
Stop and go sucks. Being tailgated sucks. Waking up and having to do it all over again sucks.
But then again, being in a bus full of high school shits sucks too.

Where the hell are you now?Adaon, ... Are you chasing all the YW Mafia away from the SF/SJ Bay Area ? I thought it was "special" there. Why would anybody want to leave ?

Don't get me wrong, as it's home to me now, it'll feel like home for a long long time to come, but even I'm thinking of moving elsewhere to just experience more life. (Granted I'm looking into further northern California and southern California at the moment)

I don't think the NW is ready for the stomachs of both Hubie and I.
Unless Kim donates to the cause. But she's got a wee mouth to feed too, soo....
