Nice find. There were good points made, although I find it ironic that one of the guys said Asians were too busy trying to assimilate to support AA musicians.

I'll support the rockers, but the rappers...eh. Nice attempt at branching out into other music genres, but I have to question it. Call me a conformist or whatever, but I don't see how the ghetto image and glorifying of gangster behavior is good for the community. Same goes for featuring the import models on the website.

^ It's not like rock music doesn't encourage rebellious behavior like drugs or casual sex. Much of rock and hip-hop is all about giving the finger to the man and doing whatever the hell you want.

True, but most AA rock is along the lines of the pop or emo stuff. And maybe it's just me, but I haven't heard any commercial rock that was about sex and drugs for awhile. Whereas with rap, you have the tendency to go this route: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek3p8MMJP4w . And even the non-gangster rap still features the sexualization of women.

and magnetic north's entire cd is free of gangsta and female denigration. u might make the argument that b/c it doesn't feature those subjects that it's not rap, but that's up to u and how broadly u define rap.
