Saw this at the Ivar Theater in Hollywood this past weekend. It was actually very entertaining, not cliche at all - addressed race issues head-on, witty. The promo can be found on Youtube if any of you are interested.
My only complaint would be that they still objectify women - and the only comics are the three guys. So while they are pretty accurate on the race stuff, they seem to fail to recognize the sexism that exists alongside the form of discrimination that they address. Still a good show.
Has anyone else seen them?

My girlfriend and my brother saw them. Both said they were hilarious, my GF said some parts she couldn't breathe she was laughing so hard. I want to see them but I don't live in the LA area...

On the website NWCLive.com, it shows that one of the producers is a female. The promo was real good, I haven't seen this play yet so I might start making plans. In the youtube comments, someone pointed out that the Asian guy is not a chink but is a Flip.

The fact that she's female doesn't really justify sexism though -- that's tokenism.

The complaint was only 3 guys. The tokenism can be said for having 1 black, 1 mexican, and 1 asian.

Wait, what? The way I read the conversation -- your comment on one of the directors being a woman was a response to what kasia said. (Correct me if I'm wrong). And I don't think her complaint was specifically about an all-male cast, but rather how they treated issues of gender/sexism. Having an all-male cast only compounded problems.

And sorry, I have no idea what the actual definition of tokenism is actually, but what I meant was you can't point out there was one female producer in response to charges of sexism. But you're also right, there's definitely a danger in audiences taking everything these three actors say as representative of the whole minority group.

I just brought up the female because of the comment of 3 guys and all about sexism. I would think because the female was one of the ones behind the scenes that she would of had some input in how the show is performed. In the credits, it says she's a Director/Co-Writer.
I haven't seen the show entirely yet, but I wonder if they bring up other issues like "White-Washed". The ironic thing is the actor who portrays the Asian, if he's in fact Filipino, and how he portrays the Asian since there are a lot of Fil-Ams who don't want to be considered "ASIAN" and would rather be considered "Pacific Islander". But maybe that message is already explained on how "Race" plays a factor in peoples lives.

But still, having a woman there doesn't necessarily guarantee that this show isn't going to have sexist bits in it. and there's far more pressure to just go with the flow when you're the only woman in a room full of men. or person of color in a room full of Whites. you get the idea

Yes I do...but the same can be applied to if there's a joke that someone think is outrageous, but had to play it out because everyone else thought it would be funny or whatever.
And considering how this play really revolves around "Racism", other prejudices might not be picked up or they could really be sending out a indirect message. This is a question that would be great to ask if there is a discussion after the play.
