How do you search for an exact phrase?
Wanted to find threads with the term "domestic violence", but the results still come up with both words found separately.

Use speech marks to wrap the phrase you're looking for.
Example search results:

those searches came up with "domestic" and "violence" individually, too. look at the words highlighted red.

Ignore him, Faithless!
This is just a slight anomaly - what SunWuKong has seen is that the search highlights whatever words were in the string you were searching for, but only if they're already present in the search results for "domestic violence". If the whole phrase isn't present, it isn't included in the search result.
Example of what I mean: do an advanced search for "murder suicide": you'll only get three results (three messages that included the exact phrase). The words Murder and Suicide are highlighted, but only in messages the search has already thrown up where murder suicide as a phrase is included.
Search just murder suicide, no speech marks, you'll get four pages of results (hundred's of posts instead of just three).
Bottom line: you wouldn't get any posts in your search which don't include the exact phrase you're looking for.

^Cool! Also, combining that with "show posts" (vs. "show threads") might cut down the searching you have to do? Haven't tried that too often tho..

Sorry. Should have went to the source (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=178796&highlight=exact+phrase).
It's an age old Vbulletin board based question. :frown:
