This is the type of thing kpih would know. But I think if you'd like more info (because if you have a rant in there I'm not seeing it, only info) you'd have to come up with some sort of query or angle for him to explore so he has a starting point.

I know local law enforcement knows of some that are less structured and they have a hard time penetrating them due to language and cultural issues. There are some that this list doesn't even cover.

I know most, I have researched on some, and I know key players in specific groups mentioned.

Based on published research and my own work, the following is a quick discussion on Asian gangs.

The problem is that gangs are much less organized than thought. In fact, they are quite arbitrary in nature. The media, law enforcement, entertainment industry, politicians and so forth portray gangs as highly structured and entrenched entities that are extremely specialized with high degrees of division of labor. That is simply not true. Typically most gangs are not quite institutionalized and are very ephemeral.

In fact, criminologists find most gangs to be youth groups which occasionally engage in law-breaking behavior. Very often memberships are brief, particularly gang members in middle class areas.

In many jurisdictions law enforcement agents simply go around and arbitrarily identify youth groups as gangs, and individuals as gang members or associates. This practice has much to do with government grants and funding, and not necessarily reflecting the true extent of gangs and gang problems in any jurisdiction.

Quite frequently, all it takes is for you and your buddies to hang out, dress like gangsters, and give yourselves a name. Law enforcement will take care of the rest.

That is not to say gangs are not a social problem. However, the more effective strategy is to focus on behavior and acts of the individuals involved, instead of overstressing the gang element. Exoticism never works in real policies. Successful intervention strategies typically involve interacting with the members through extra-legal means.

Long story. The Nationalists in Taiwan were antagonized by the natives in the early periods of the Republic of China. Their government compounds were surrounded by a Bamboo fence, hence 'United Bamboo'...

I have a question some of the gang name repeat does this that those gangs are like crips, blood, and vice lords. You know greater in size therefore control a bigger network?

LOL

I mean, in every city, there's going to be little street gangs that are nothing more than local groups of kids with nothing better to do. In Birmingham, there's hundreds of them...............so I'm sure California has a bunch of them.

I mean, come on..................Black Dragon? LOL, this ain't Street Fighter.

Most of the time the gangs just take the umbrella name. They don't really belong to an organization and they are in no way coordinated. There is no central structure involved.

For instance, different United Bamboo tongs and Wah Ching sides have nothing to do with one another.

Even the other gangs you mentioned, Bloods, Crips, Vice Lords, Latin Kings, are only symbolically tied together. When it comes to the real thing is every man/gang for himself/themselves.

dude, those guys are no joke, they're the criminal wing of the KMT (who, entirely coincidentally, are the world's richest political party). When Generalissimo Cash My Check's party didn't like what Henry Liu was writing, they sent United Bamboo guys to assassinate him in Daly City. (To which the US response was pathetic).
