what are the best methods for finding jobs? not just 'counter clerks' or 'retail sales' positions, but actual professions that are integral to particular career tracks?

i am heavily searching Yahoo hotjobs and monsterjobs, but i just know there are better ways to job hunt. any advice?

Internet boards related to your job track? I get emails from time-to-time from a retail workers group when there's an opening somewhere.

Whenever there's an opening at my place, I see if there's anyone I know that could fill the position.
