Yeah, they are.
Truthfully, I think sushi is just okay. The main reason I eat it is just so I can pile the wasabi on it. I've always looked at eating sushi with wasabi like bungee jumping for my nose.

well, i'm a vegetarian, so i'd have to say anything without fish in it. Yep, even natto (did i transliterate that right? i'm not sure, but either way, it's fermented soybeans). I'm weird, i know...nobody else likes that stuff except me and my cousin:)

you mean beef sashimi?
i've had it at a friends house. it looked queer, but it tasted ok. then again i ate a half raw (no, i don't mean rare) steak.
i'm more into yellow tail jawbone then sashimi, but i like most sashimi, EXCEPT the evil uni. a friend told me that to him, chronic sufferer of montezuma's revenge (we'd go to TJ and he'd drink the water x_X), uni is hiroshima's revenge. x_X whether i agree or not on the term, it's true about the same effect X_X. uni oni = bad.

I love sushi...
uni rocks... spicy tuna, california rolls, smoked eel rolls, handrolls are good too...oh... and tamago is good to finish off your dinner with....mmm sweetness. I can make a mean spicy tuna sauce..than combine tuna...and goodness.
my 'rents own a fishmarket so I always get to have high quality seafood when i'm home.... I usually can't eat seafood in resturants where there isn't a body of ocean near by....cause it takes longer for them to get the fish, so by the time they serve it....to me it's gross...and my friends usually look at me like i'm nuts when I tell them the fish is nasty...
...so much for eating good seafood all the time...when i'm far away from the 'rents and have to buy fish, to suite my taste, id' have to blow major bucks..arg.

Ikura - the little salmon roe, yum! Also spider roll, with the softshell crab, and a simple salmon and avocado roll, those are the ones for me.
As much as I love sushi, I can't eat it too often. Once in a while, then I crave some hot food, hmmmm, gyoza!

It's all about sashami of any kind. No carbs!
I'm with Karizma also the roasted eel over rice is good when I'm carbo loading.

Spicky Tako Rolls... MMMMmmm. In S.F. there is a place called Kintaro's. Really decent sushi place with decent prices to go along with. Although this one roll isn't very japanese I love it to death. I always order it.
Philidelphia rolls:
It's tuna with creamcheese...
But that's just me, I love my dairy products.

I normally like most nigiri sushi, but uni was a little too much. My wife isn't really hot on most sushi, although she really likes inari.

spicy tako is good, and the one with the tiny little roe. forgot what that was called. but technically i guess they're not sushi. strictly speaking of sushi, i like octopus sushi and salmon sushi.

My dirty little secret... I'm a Jap who never ate sushi until a year ago (I was 18). Partly because I don't like much seafood (although I definitely prefer Asian seafood to western); I only like the weird-lookin' stuff - eel, octopus, squid, and crabs. When I finally had sushi, I liked it, but it's not something I have to have every time I go for Japanese food (too damn expensive in most places!). I believe I had salmon sushi prepared in the traditional style.

Btw, I hate those big salmon eggs. I literally gagged the first time I had it because I thought it was going to be good and I stuffed the whole thing in my mouth. I think it's salmon roe. The small eggs are nice and tasty though.

That was always one of my favorite places when I lived in SF. I took my brother once. We ordered 10 sets of rolls between the 2 of us and the bill was only about 30 bucks with tip. We were stuffed afterward too.
I love all types, but especially the tuna and salmon and egg (all kinds of roe and egg) and eel.
I haven't found a good place up here in Jersey yet, but I havem't really tried either.

Kintaro sucks big time now. The quality and service went down hill after that. I would reccomend Sakana on Post and Taylor. Authnetic style sushi at a good price.

I go up there all the time...one of my good friends lives in Pal Park. I was just up there lsat night actually...ate at this resturant on Broad off 46...Chinese-Korean place...Mandarin...
But she's Korean, so if we go to Korean places, she always orders Korean food...which I like as well. Sometimes I just get in these moods :-)
Now if I could just find a decent Vietnamese place...

well, if you're willing to make the drive, i think sushi sam's is the best, hands down. it's in downtown san mateo, on 3rd avenue. it's nearest cross street is b street. the drive is only 35 minutes or so, and it's worth the drive. =)

if sushi sam's is the place i'm thinking about w/the blue awning close to the railroad tracks... it's good.
i like unagi, california rolls, sashimi, clam, octopus, pretty much any fish, the small mini orange eggs, and dragon rolls!!! oh so good...
dragon roll = tempura shrimp inside the rice/seaweed, w/avocado and unagi on top........ so good....
though i find that if i eat more than a plate of sushi, i start to feel sick. i think it has more to do w/the avocados, cause i don't handle fresh/raw fruit very well.

theres different types of fugu, just like your different varieties of tuna. also farmed fugu isnt poisonous because they dont feed on coral like the wild kind do. I liked it, found it very sweet with a texture similar to yellow tail.
