Yeah, it looks complicated.. but its not really. I mean, anybody can go under and over alternate threads... and thats what the basics of weaving is all about... school children are able to learn... but yeah, when it comes to tapestry weaving... it takes A LOT of time and patience...
but like THANKS for the nice comment. The project is not completely finished yet tho... since i havent taken it off the loom yet... and when i do take it off... i have to decide how exactly i want to frame it... and this individual piece is only part of a series i'm doing...

omg, that's a good question...
me, i've always enjoyed her paintings...
and after i drew my design concept... my teacher.. she actually suggested that i look up Georgia O'keefe... so yeah, i have been studying more about her recently...

oh wow... awesome
I took a craft class back in HS,..actually two..along with around 10 other art classes(i went to one kick ass HS with a kick ass art program....that forced me to be fine artsy*grumble*)
..and did a basic weaving... i took soo long, my design sucked, and the whole thing warped and turned in to a trapezoid instead of a rectangle..but my point..it took sooo long for this lil' thing i did. All the respect for you TB.
when i see stuff lik that, it makes me want to be a fine artist, but i think i make a sucky fine artist... the teachers i had in HS and in college for fine arts classes try to *change* me, like i'm a sell-out cause i'm a medical illustrator...*cringe*

Oh TJ, I think you're selling yourself short. A lot of us here are floored by your talent and artistic ability.

Wow, Wow... this is so exciting.. bumping into someone else who knows where i'm coming from. Me, i feel the technical aspect of weaving is quite simple... cuz its all a matter of going under and over alternative threads... But NO ONE will ever truly understand the amount of TIME and PATIENCE that goes into a tapestry weaving if they never experienced the process before...
Anyways, thanks for your comment. i think anybody who dedicates themselves to being a fine artist.. has to be a little crazy.. i sometimes question.. what the hell am i doing... its not as if it feels like a concrete career like medical illustrator... but yeah, i eventually plan on developing a name and reputation for myself...

Have you ever weaved a Navajo blanket?
hey, here's some education for you...
when you're talking about the present tense... you say weave... but when you talk in the past tense... its not weaved... but you say wove or woven... and lol, i just actually learned this from my teacher this semester...
so, i think the proper way to ask this question is- have you ever woven a navaho blanket... or did you ever weave a navaho blanket??... but anyways, the answer is no... they do more like pattern type of weaving... and i do more like pictorial images instead.. but yeah, its something that i appreciate just the same... i actually took a weaving class at the Newark museum a couple of years ago... here in NJ... a class in Kente weaving.. an african type of weaving form... that children learn to do at a young age...
http://www.kente.net/weaving.html
it was interesting to learn.. but yeah... i'm more into my own thing.. tapestry weaving... and making pictorial images instead of patterns...

Thanks for the education on proper grammar usage. Your work certainly has a calming effect, and I do hope you'll never ever stop woving ( :P ) tapestry.
