$847 million loss for Q1 (http://www.detnews.com/2005/autosinsider/0503/16/autos-119127.htm)

I'm sure they will blame the Japanese, lawyers, and yeah...santa clause.

Damn that's a lot of money. But ultimately, they've got no one but themselves and their shitty cars to blame (no offense to any GM fans).

Let's see, how many bad ideas did they come up in the past couple of years?

Aztec
Equinox
Monte Carlo
CTS
La Crosse

Surprise? Hardly.

I wonder if they will keep Saab around...it has not made them a penny since the acquisition.

I hope they either discontinue it or sell it off to Volvo.

The only mention I heard was inability to compete with Japanese and European manufacturers.

sorry to hear that.....

that'd be a good idea.

GM has [as usual], mismanaged Saab, with all those rebadged GM models that's not fooling anyone. And now they are moving Saab productions to Germany in the Opel plant.

Although the 9-2X, aka the bastard child of GM, Saab and Subaru, is pretty cool.

Eh, I meant overall. Of course there are a few gems in the mix. E.g., C6 Corvette, V series Caddys (but not at the prices they're demanding), Pontiac GTO (when discounted to $26,000), SSR (but, again, way overpriced). For the most part though, their current line up of vehicles sucks, IMHO. But to each his or her own. Unfortunately for GM, I'm apparently not the only one who doesn't find their model line-up very appealing.

You know something is very wrong with the management of a company that actually believes for one second that the Aztek is something worth producing. Whoever penned that thing should have his or her hands cut off, and whoever approved it for manufacture owes the car buying public an apology. And besides some of their higher end vehicles, they're falling waaaaaay behind the technology curve. It's kind of sad when it's cheaper for Saturn to purchase motors from a competitor (Honda) to get reliable power for its "performance" oriented Saturn VUE Redline, than it is to build a comparable engine in house.

Okay, enough GM bashing. I hope, for the sake of their workers, that the company figures its shit out soon. Time for new management perhaps.

Volvo is owned by Ford. No way would anybody buy SAAB (the co.)- personally I think it will die out, which is sad.

And they can't play the "Buy American or Americans lose jobs" card anymore. How can you say not to buy Japanese when Honda and Toyota have opened up factories in the US and work with American suppliers? And the Big Three have factories in China and Mexico... so everything's gone global now.

I've scoped one out at the dealership. Hopefully I won't need a new car anytime soon but if I did get another Saab in the near future it's the 9-5 or no Saab at all.

Really sad when Saab 9-2 is a Subaru (I am a big Subie fan) and the SUV is a Chevy Blazer.

Just like the Volvo S40 is a Mazda 3 and a Ford Focus...

This platform sharing crab is pissing me off.

By the way, I just saw a commercial that calls the new G6 a "Performance Sedan"...

Sheesh...

LOL....that summarized GM's woes....too many divisions that are selling the same car.
