to be honest, I think its kinda pathetic not to mention sexist and racist. If anything, if a white woman finds this book somewhere in the dude's house or car, she'd probably drop him like a bad habit.

you know when i read the title of this thread, i thought it was a joke of some sort.

The perimeter of the pavilion was ringed with booths selling the usual Asian cultural items: pottery, paintings, Korean bulgogi BBQ, fish-shaped pung-ap-bang pastries, cell phones. One of the booths caught my eye - a bearded Asian guy and his Eastern European girlfriend were selling copies of How to Date a White woman, a Practical Guide for Asian men. I smiled at the title and started to talk to the guy, asking if he was the author. But in the next few minutes of flipping through the book, I realized that the book wasn't ironic at all - it really was a serious guide to how to dress and act. Obviously my disappointment and unease showed on my face, because he quickly started to say "A relationship is a very precious thing and is an important investment - "

"And a $23 book isn't much money in comparison, yeah, I get it."

Actually, I was sorely tempted to buy a copy for Zhan or Jim or even Ben, as a sarcastic gift, but I decided that I really didn't want to support the kind of attitude Adam Quan and his book represented. And I'd be sooooo ashamed to be seen buying it. So I left, and read the web site instead. Incidentally, the site reveals that there's a Chinese version (Zheng fu xi fang nu ren mi jie), and promises that there'll soon be a "How to Date a White man, A Practical Guide for Asian women." Save up your pennies, girls.

Thank YOU for your supportive comments! I'm just here, trying to build a better man.

Just like in every other part of life, there are people that like certain things and those that don't.

Being Asian isn't an issue. You just have to find the women that are attracted to Asian-looking men. In fact, many women don't give a rip that you're Asian or anything else about you. They are concerned about you -the person - not you, "the 5' 7" Asian guy." Frankly, this is a real benefit to men. Men are much more likely to scrutinize women visually than women are men.

In fact, many women may even find your look "exotic" and "mysterious". You should play on these factors. But don't focus on them exclusively. Focus on yourself as worthwhile and "a great catch", and let the women sort it out for themselves.

What's much more important is to learn what women want. If you've read many of my articles you know that I equate dating with selling, as the skills are very much alike. How successful would a salesman be if, he had a great product, but kept going to the wrong customers trying to convince them to buy? Obviously, he wouldn't be successful at all. I see men trying to do this all the time.

What I suggest is: 1) learn what your "customer" wants to buy; and 2) sell what your customer is buying!

In the dating world, this equates to understanding what women really want and then looking at your product (you), packaging it for sale and then reaching your customer to show them the benefits. In my book, "Being a Man in a Woman's World" I go into this in great depth and suggest that you pick up a copy.

Don't focus on the things you can't change - being Asian, 5' 7", etc. Focus on your BENEFITS to your CUSTOMER. That's all that matters anyway!

I'm a white girl and I can tell you one thing ... i LOVE asian guys. I love everything about um... the soft skin.. shyness.. perfect hair.. the way they so gently hold your hand. They make you feel special unlike any other race out there.. they treat you with respect. I know this doesnt apply to ALL asian guys but it has with the ones i have met. My only other criticism about this book is regarding the Asian women she interviewed, and how representative some of their views were about Asian women in general. I was particularly astounded at how many of the women, when describing their ideal man, mentioned the exceptionally high income levels of the man they sought. It also would have been nice to have just a bit more of this kind of information about each of the women she quotes since she relies on a LOT of these and would have enabled me to put an opinion in perspective. Yes, Education is valued in just about every Asian culture and the more education and higher income you have, the better your chances of attracting a quality woman. But I know of two guys who are married to Fillipinas, one who works as a mechanic, the other a roofer.

well, i can say that it's harder to get a fobby Chinese girl into bed than it is to get a white girl into bed. but that doesn't mean white girls are slutty. with Americanised Asian girls, there doesn't seem to be a pattern as far as i know.

I grew up around white girls (and white guys), so naturally I was attracted to white girls more than anything else even though now is not the case. When it came to meeting girls it's not like I even had a choice between white or Asian or black or Hispanic or whatever. Actually when I say white girls I guess I'm basically saying American girls which would include AA girls. Chinese FOB girls or 1.5 genners tend to be not as willing to talk or are more cautious, and they tend to stick within their own cliques. I also think Asian girls from Asia on the whole have a different concept of what constitutes dating or a good relationship. I don't think any of the white girls were Asiaphiles, er..at least...if they were, they hid it pretty darn well.

Yeah, I don't know what to say either. I've been on my share of AA forums and the majority of comments about white women in general terms by Asian American guys run more towards 'getting' them to even out the IR dating disparity (which pisses off white women of course, and rightly should), seeing them as some sort of social affirmation, or comments about how it's socially easier to have a relationship with non-Asian girls because they don't have to negotiate the same level of expectations (as in it might get too serious too soon, parental expectations, cultural dating differences with 1.5ers or fobs) that might come from dating an AA female, or Asian female.

The majority of sexual stereotyping of non-Asian women I've encountered on AA websites usually involves latinas. I don't know how many other AA sites you've been on or which ones they were to support the idea that white women in general (the average white American woman, not celebrities or porn stars) are overwhelmingly stereotyped as slutty and dick sucking by the vast majority of Asian American or Asian men.

I know like any other relatively youthful hetero males, they do like hot young chicks regardless of ethnicity and guys will be guys. There is always going to be talk about how chicks of ___ ethnicity are hot or not.
