Are you the type of person that has only one bestest friend in the whole wide world? or do you have a circle of kinda close best friends?

I'm the latter. Unless my husband can count as the former.

neither. my best friends are scattered all over the place, among different social circles. i'll have one best friend in a whole circle/clique, and the rest I'll chill with but don't really consider them as that close a friend.

this way kinda sucks. you can never have a night out with all your best friends surrounding you. but it has advantages too, i guess.

No real one "best friend" but lotsa distinct circles or categories of close friends: I've got my high-school/undergrad, a.k.a. "asshole" friends, my law school peeps, my dorm friends, and my former significant others (not to mention my virtual YW buddies).

As alibabaInc. said, it sucks 'cause I can't have one night out with all my close friends. For example, I once tried to bring my close law school friend out with my "asshole" friends. After enough alcohol, some of my "asshole" friends started clowning the hell out of and talking mad shit about my law school buddy to the point where I had to extricate him from the situation. That's just one of the reasons I call them my "asshole" friends.=P

i have one best friend that i have known since 7th grade who will be my maid-of-honor. but then i also have a few close friends from high school and a very close group of friends from college. and my childhood friends (parent's friends' kids)--we're still pretty tight and hang out every now and then.

I have a big group of friends ranging from good to close. Some of them are in different cliques, but normally all those cliques merge because we all talk to each other.

I don't count acquaintences as friends. If I did, then 80-90% of my high school would be my friend.
edit: Heh, forgot to add. My closest friend has known me since kindergarten. Huzzah.

i have a small tight circle of friends.

if i go out without my boys, it's just not the same. i don't think i reach that level of fun when everyone's not there, or even sometimes when only one of the homies is around.
