What do you guys think about it?
I upgraded to it....don't see much difference between the previous version and this.
More DRM =D
A few things have been renamed to make it more intuitive (like "Rip and Burn" instead of "Copy music to your computer"). The Media Center PC codecs are built in -- not that you couldn't download the codecs for WMP9. Interface colors have been changed slightly. The media library looks a lot more like iTunes and WinAmp. There's a better online music store. And yeah. more DRM. It's basically trying to compete with iTunes.

I noticed the Online Stores feature. Was that there with WMP9?
Would it be better to use this than iTunes?

i like it!

Would it be better to use this than iTunes?Matter of taste I suppose. The online store was sorta there in WMP9 -- just cumbersome -- you buy crap from Walmart or Naspter or Musicmatch through "Premium Services." You really have to hunt for it. iTunes is kind of a resource hog on the PC... not sure if it's any worse than WMP would be. I use it for the radio stations, but I stick to WinAmp since it's relatively lighter. Try em all out and see which you prefer.
What's DRM?
:redface:Digital Rights Management... the mechanism by which music/content you buy can "legally" be used. As in... you can't exercise your fair use with it.

I like the new layout better. Other than that, there aren't any other changes that affect me.

Fortune's iTunes vs. Windows Media Player 10 comparison is confusing and misleading (http://www.macdailynews.com/comments.php?id=P3492_0_1_0)
Lewis writes, "Windows Media Player 10, in contrast, is Exhibit W of the Microsoft 'if at first you don't succeed, try, try again' school of software development. Windows Media Player 9 was so anemic that it was often referred to as WiMP 9, but version 10 is much more robust. Unlike Apple's iTunes, WMP 10 is truly a media player, capable of displaying music videos, album art, film clips, and photos as well as managing song libraries and radio stations."

welllllll... you can sometimes, like using playfair (aka hymn, http://hymn-project.org/) on your .aac. but it's a hassle, and i see your point.

i don't think wmp ever had a built in lyrics feature. afaik, you always had to use a plugin with it (http://www.wmplugins.com/SearchResults.aspx?keyword=lyrics&type=0). don't know if anyone has updated to work with wmp 10 though...
