The college papers run ads for egg donors on a regular basis. I saw one offering $10,000 but it stipulated the donor must be 5' 7", "very attractive," of Asian descent, with good SAT scores and grades, etc., etc.

There's a lot of demand for Asian donors.

Some Asian women who attend fertility clinics have asked for "white" donor eggs so they can have light-skinned babies. The cases, revealed in yesterday's Sunday Times, give a new twist to the issue of so-called designer babies.

Some couples seek help because they cannot find Asian egg donors, but others perceive lighter skin as more attractive.

i saw those ads in the campus paper every day of my college career. they usually specify ethnicity or race. but regardless, as pointed out above, they have those high-ass requirements above.
they don't want my eggs. for sure. :)

they don't want my eggs, but i've considered it purely because they are offering SO much money!

I could get a lot of bling bling for my eggs, but I'm not selling my eggs, that's just weird.

yes!
i was sick of working and going to school.
and not having money to go out with friends.
then i thought.
omg. what if it happens that a little half meena is alive somewhere
and i don't even know!!
then i have kids of my own and then
my son ends up marrying my half meena
and they have abnormal children.

okieee. i watch too much korean dramas.

Whoa! That could be a remote possibility, in general, already.

Hey wait a minute Jen, you have a thread on sperm donation too! Just what are you trying to get at?

Consider this.

You only have a certain number to your person. I read somewhere.

yes, we're not like men.
we don't make sperm.
we're born with a certain number of eggs.
but it's enough.

hehehehehe

Even that variable fact is strange. Some women are like baby factories, some women fear they're running out of eggs.

For those on the latter side, there are these treatments (maybe not the right word) to increase the egg production.

no. b/c i'd feel a sense of responsibility over the little kasie's running around out there. and if i donate my eggs, i probably wouldn't be able to stay in touch with them and oversee how they are being raised. so no. not for any amount of money.

the preparation needed prior to extraction and the extraction itself isn't exactly the most pleasant esperience one can have.

really?
i've always thought that women couldn't produce eggs.
that they're born with a set number of eggs.

I think that women are born with a certain number of eggs
In the same way that they are usually born with a certain number of legs.
But they might take drugs to stimulate their release
So they're not subject to the eggs' caprice
All in keeping with the strictest of regs.

Yeah, something like that.

My wife took some sort of medication to stimulate follicle production. I think that's how the multiple births thing can occur.
