Bear with me. I'm trying out the attachments feature. Just a few pics from my excursion into Macau earlier today that I wanted to share.

This is from the Lisboa hotel and casino Avenide de Lisboa I was told to check out the gallery of sculptures they had upstairs. You have to check out the detail work! It's mindblowing. *sigh* Life before television I guess.

My favorite from this batch of photos is the wood carving. If you look at the bottom you can see the tree's roots as part of the design.

Yeah, I got here like 4 am Sunday and I'm on a noon flight back to Taiwan tomorrow. Shit, I would have asked you to play hooky today if I knew you were already back here. I thought you were in the US still. I'll PM you with where I'm staying.

Wow, neat stuff. Are the carvings relatively recent commissions or are they antique/ancient acquisitions? Thanks for sharing!

Oh, I plan on boring you all to death with more when I get back home. In fact, my ideal scenario is to pack all of YW into a slightly musty, stuffy auditorium with creaky, uncomfortable chairs and subject you to a 4 hour slide show.

But to answer the actual question, to my knowledge they are true antiques.
