What do bulletproof vests, fire escapes, windshield wipers, and laser printers all have in common?

They were all invented by women.

Wilkins stole the photograph of the helix, and Watson and Crick submitted their paper without crediting Wilkins, and without his knowledge. Double-double-cross!

Also, the woman, Franklin, was Jewish, and anti-Semetic sentiment was at an all-time high. Everything was stacked against her. She died of cancer.

Who knew science had so much drama?

They made a movie?

Is it the one called The Helix, where Watson and Crick received the Nobel Prize in bullet time?

?...she had lots of control *before* FDR died, signing stuff, summarizing things for him and helping cover up his polio, but I imagine Truman would have had something to say about her being president...course, i don't know much about it, so i could be wrong

From the authors of the bestselling Mothers of Invention, a look at the trials and triumphs of great women inventors Did you know that a woman invented the first computer language? What about the space suit, Jell-O, signal flares, graphic-based computer games, the windshield wiper, the paper bag, bone marrow transplants, and artificial diamonds? Patently Female will reveal the stories behind these remarkable innovations, and introduce you to the even more remarkable women who made them. You'll meet the designer of the disposable diaper, the creator of Kevlar, and the woman who became America's first black millionaire by mixing up hair conditioner in her laundry tub. You'll travel to the future with Randice Altschul, inventor of the disposable phone, the next great breakthrough in communications; and to the stars with Donna Shirley, whose Rover landed on Mars. Packed with photographs, Patently Female proves Edison wrong: invention isn't ten percent inspiration, it's one hundred percent inspirational. Ethlie Ann Vare (Los Angeles, CA) is a television writer/producer. Greg Ptacek (Los Angeles, CA) is a writer and marketing executive.

I highly doubt it.

After the president dies, power goes to the vice. If he were unavailable at the time, power probably would have gone to the Speaker of the House, and if he were unavailable, someone in the Senate, and so on.

I don’t remember the entire chain of command, but I don’t think the first lady is anywhere on that list. :p
