I've been using Litestep for a long time now and it's been great for me up until the point it had a huge stall in development where almost NOTHING happened
I just recently updated my copy of Litestep from the last Indiestep build (which I updated from the 2.01 version of Ohussain's installer) to the most recent build with Ohussain's 3.02 install
it was definitely an eye opener
everything has been retooled
my interest has been renewed and I absolutely love it

anyone else here use a shell replacement of some sort? Opinions, gripes, rave reviews? things you'd like to see?
anyone interested but need help getting started?

I not only use a shell replacement but an OS replacement; Linux.
Didn't know about Litestep though. It looks interesting.

Lite step is a program where you can literally cahnge the Skin of your Desktop/OS. Altho i havent tried it (i tried change the startup picture by replacing a DLL file and i had to reboot my entire comp erasing all my shit), I've heard lots of cool things abopuit it. Like if you don't like the way your toolbar looks, you can change it. Or make it say "PUNKKID" instead of "start" on the starmenu.

There is a screen shot, but Lite step has THOUSANDS of skins to chosoe from and thats jsut one... but yeah its pretty neat.

actuallty litestep has the smallest ram footprint I've ever seen for a shell

it beats explorer that's for sure

I can bust out some screen shots if you want
hmm hopefully attach worked this time

edit:
sorry if it looks scrappy i was running at 1024*768 but I had to shrink it down
some how the initial screen shot was 1600*1200
ehh this is on a win98 machine 733 mhz 128 ram

Yes I love DA. That site is awesome.

Maybe the belly button not being there is symbolic of our inablility to be born as pure children anymore in this terrible world of hate and suffering? But instead in a world where violence and weapons are required to survive?

       that face is damn cool/

I explored DA for a while from strong recommendations. I love its deviousness, but sadly, didn't have the resources to contribute at the time... still don't.
nice bellybutton input SNB. I wonder if the artist really did mean it like that now, or if you're deviating from its real deviation.

Litestep is a shell or GUI replacement for windows along the lines of the NeXT OS and NeXT computer that never came out actually...
its a fun thing to play around with... Ive just never had time to fiddle around with it lately.

I'll try it out on my laptop since I can just use a product recovery CD if it doesn't work out, hehe..

you won't need it cause you can do a simple thing to turn it back to normal
no changes to to any system files at all
just a line in the system.ini config file

Hmm, been reading up on this. I might give it a try after I'm done doing some webwork. I'm guessing this shell is really stable.
