Harbor Village (at the Embarcadero, right?) is much easier for me to get to via public transit. Ziru too. BART then Muni on the 38 on a Sunday (to Ton Kiang) would take damn near forever.

I don't usually go out to play pool anymore, as I basically never even use the table we recently put in at home. But there was a time when we used to play pool all the time...South First Billiards in San Jose...the two Campbell Billiards on Bascom...and the place at Stevens Creek and Woodhams if you feel like having a half dozen Asian kids dogpile you if you look at them funny.

Up in the city, The Great Entertainer is supposed to be a very good hall...with Brunswick Gold Crowns. But, from what I've heard, more of an old-school sort of a feel than a modern, bar-type feel.

eh, i've been once. on a weekend. they charge per-person as well as per-hour, and it didn't feel worth it. is that normal? like i said, i tend to go to that one place on cheap (weekday) nites.

I don't think it's terribly rare. But I think those folks are pretty serious about billiards, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were more expensive.
