I often see tall statured men as the leaders of major companies. Does your height affect how you see yourself in your workplace? I remember walking into an elevator once so that I could reach the top floor, and all these business men and women were at least a head taller than me. Any of you thought about something as mundane as this??? I guess I just don't want to be overlooked as an employee nor underestimated, but I also suppose it is possible for me to encounter people like that. What is your take?

I'm 5'5 exactly, and part of my job is to "maintain the security of the laboratory environment". In layman's terms if somebody is acting a fool I have to keep them in check, and taller guys will on occasion give me a look like, "who the hell does this short dude thing he is telling me I'm doing something wrong?" It might not be conscious, but people do associate height with power.

There was some study about height correllating with power positions. I agree with TB4000 about the association, but I think it works the opposite way too. Some short people could develop a sort of inferiority and then limit what they can achieve. I think it comes down to self-confidence unless there's a hostile environment, and in that case, I'm waiting for someone to sue under the ADA.

I'm 6'4, so I don't have that problem.

My theory is, that corporate thing, you know.....probably because taller man has a longer form, so they look "better" in a suit...it's purely athetistically, though, but you know how shallow humans are.
