My favorite is a pasta commercial.

This blonde woman is shopping in an Italian open market when she accidentally bumps into this hot Italian guy. The Italian guy shyly says "excuse me" and walks off.

Later on that night, the blonde lady is eating at a restaurant with some of her girlfriends and the Italian guy (who's apparently the head chef at the place) notices her. He makes her a special pasta meal with the product being advertised and personally serves it to her. End of commercial.

Man, that commercial is so romantic... It makes me want to be a chef who hangs around open produce markets bumping into hot girls.

I really like a Coke commercial I saw on VH1 called, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.

It was corny, with a bunch of people of several nationalities in garb from around the world standing on a hill holding soda and singing about Coke and harmony, but I like it.

I love the Nextel Cell Phone commerical that does a quick synopsis of Romeo and Juliet. It's like the complete play in 30 seconds. All the important parts anyway. Pure genius.

Also there's a couple of ads for this Rx Enhancer stuff for men. It's a "male enhancer" and it involves this guy named Bob. It's got all this great sexual innuendo, and the guy being protrayed has this big ass cheesy smile, and it just WORKS. It's funny, and the message behind it is that they don't say "big penis" medicine, but it's implied, and it's great.

I love unique commericals.

A white man and an Asian woman are getting ready for work in the morning. They aren't talking to each other, and there's a palatable tension between them. Then they are at work, and seem sad, looking at pictures of them together. Finally, the girl is in a meeting with the rest of the executive board when the guy runs into the room and holds up a sign "I'm an idiot. I'm sorry." Then you realize it's her cell phone -- the guy text messaged her. She texts messages back "I'm sorry too".

i like the dunkin donuts commercial where it's the end of a meeting, and there's only one donut left on the table. The secretary is eyeing it, but another co-worker appears to be reaching for it. She quickly lunges foward and snatches the donut....only to find out that the co worker was actually reaching for a pen besides it....the expression on the faces were awesome, i love that commercial

I like the Royal Bank of Scotland commercial where there is a group of business people eating at a fancy restaurant and one of them starts choking.

The people the choker is eating with acknowledge that he's choking, discuss the Heimlich maneuver, and even debate the pronounciation of the name, but do nothing for the choker. Then this guy from another table silently stands the choker up, performs the Heimlich, and it's done.

Classic commerical.

A recent Craftsman commercial where they were selling a special wrench and laser measuring device. Just Bob Vila going into a house and introducing these new tools to the homeowners. Boring? Maybe. It's special because the homeowners are a good looking Asian couple with no stereotypical accent or mannerisms.

This is a perfect example of an ad where they just wrote a script and put Asian people in it rather than do what normally happens which is writing race into the show/ad.

I also love the Fair Housing commercial where a White guy makes a call for an apartment on Park Street.

With a Hispanic accent he calls in, gives his name as Juan Hernandez, and asks about the apartment. He’s told it has been rented.

Now Indian accented, he calls back as Sanjay Kumar. "It’s not available."

Then he deepens his voice. "Tyrone Washington" is told the apartment isn’t available.

The accented Chen Ling, Khalid Bin-Ali, and Tuan Vo have no luck either.

Wheelchair-bound Moshe Goldberg is told it’s gone, too.

Then the guy goes to an unethnic-sounding accent and gives the Caucasian-sounding Graham Wellington as his name and suddenly the apartment is available.

There is this middle aged white couple praciticing Japanese (to visit Japan).

Is there two different versions of this credit card check commercial --

The one where this middle aged guy gets a gift card to some punk record store?

Anyway in the radio version, the dude seems to be asking for the Baroque section. To whit, the worker-bees answer says, "Baroque, is that the Icelandic chick?"

HAHAHAHAHAHA, HA! (Anyways it was funny to me.)

I really love some of these commercials. Don't think I'll ever buy a vast majority of what they're selling, but the entertainment is certainly fun.

AMWD (if you ever check in on this thread), do you all get into Asian character content of commercials, too? Because, it seems, the commercials portray Asians in a better light. (I like the one about the UPS drivers -- one from China? and one from the US.)
