It should be changed to something like; "I'll make food and rub on the face of those starving YWers who don't know how to cook"

I'm happy with my instant ramen noodles for dinner, thanks

Tonight's entree will feature mi fun with shiang gu/shiitake, sha mi (preserved shrimp) and shredded pork. Gonna throw in a bit of sa tsa (bbq sauce) too.

About $2.00 for the pork and let's call it another $2.00 for the rest of the ingredients. Should make about 5 servings. 80 cents per serving plus veggie. That's not too bad.

i just marinated the short ribs in some soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, salt and pepper. broiled four minutes one one side, three minutes on the other. they're not that messy either, cause i got the ones w/out bones!

i didn't end up making the dao miu and just had some kimchi instead. i'm planning on just chopping up a buttload of garlic and giving them a quick stir-fry in the wok w/some oil and salt. are there any other ways to prepare it?

you know, it's really not that difficult. no aluminum foils or metals in the microwave, and make sure whatever you put in there has room to breath.

rice cracker once put her lunch box in the microwave at work without opening the lid first, and the air inside the lunchbox got sucked out and she couldn't open the lid because it was air-tight. i had to pry it open with a knife.

i almost make mine the same way except i add shredded bai tsai (not sure what this is called in english, i guess chinese cabbage?) and shredded carrots and i don't use sa tsa and the sha mi (i don't like those little fuckers).

the reason i use bai tsai and carrots isn't just for nutritional value. it also serves to soak up the oil. tsao mi fun is a simple dish. but, it's a difficult dish to make really well. a good tsao mi fun is typically "dry." that's what my mom and grandma told me.

he might be talking about napa cabbage. i know bak choi is only the way to say bai tsai in cantonese but if you go into your run of the mill grocery store like a safeway, bok choi will be something different than napa cabbage.

that's what my mama said about me too. i've only cooked once in the last year (not counting sandwiches and heating up my mom's leftovers or tv dinners). it was about two weeks ago. and it was sorta cheating cuz i used a jar of pasta sauce and pre-cooked meatballs for my pasta. and my vegetable soup consisted of frozen veggies and Campbell's tomato soup. i added cumin as my own personal touch, though.

i don't really like mexican food, but there are much better (but more expensive) Mexican places around here like Chipotle. (or is that really Mexican?)

Taco Bell barely counts as food I think. I still like those mexican pizza things though. It's also better than Del Taco, which is the dregs of fast food.

My favorite So Cal Mexican fast food is King Taco. Any place with beef brain and tongue on the menu is tops. Really though, it's awesome.

Today I had 2 boiled eggs for dinner. I actually looked up directions online and it's more than boiling them. The best way is to "coddle" the eggs. Cover the eggs with water (about 1 inch above them). Bring the water to a boil and then take it off the heat, let the eggs sit for about 15 minutes. This way, the eggs whites don't turn into super tough plasticy stuff, they remain tender and the egg is nicely cooked.

To top things off I had a bag of chips and a lemon candy I found in a pair of old jeans.

If I can teach myself to live off paint chips those roaches are gonna have some competition after WWIII.

If you add a little bit of vinegar to the water, the eggs will peel much easier. It won't affect the flavor of the egg either.

Homemade Pasta Sauce - Bolognese Style

Stewed chopped tomatoes in olive oil and chicken stock with oven roasted garlic, diced zuchini, on top of sauteed italian sausage, with some thyme, rosemary, organo, marjoram, salt and pepper to taste.

(I started on the sauce last night, will finish it up this afternoon. Takes forever to get the tomatoes to the consistency I want)

Homemade meatballs - Ground pork, ground beef, eggs, bread crumbs, some herbs/spices from previously listed (gave give THIS one away, lol, grandma's recipe)

Barilla Pasta - Rigatoni

Baked Ciabatta dipping bread with olive oil/vinegar/garlic

Someone's bringing salad to go with my creamy Italian dressing (grandma's mix, of course)

Grilled veggies being brought by someone.

Beer for the Warriors game (WARRIORSSSS!!)

Red wine for dinner.

Tiramisu being brought for dessert.

Damned, I'm gonna have to go the gym in the morning.

Crispy-But-Not-Oily Taucu Meat... again  /  / :frown:

Here's how it's prepared:

First steam the meat. Put lightly marinated and sliced meat in a bowl into a rice cooker and steam it until the meat is cooked. You can do this many hours before you actually want to eat it. The main ingredients of the marinate are: A little bit of soy sauce (just enough to hold or wet the other seasonings), a lot of pepper (you don't ever need to skim on pepper for marinade purpose), ginger (to remove the meat smell; wine or liquor can also do this but ginger is cheaper), a few drops of sesame oil, and a little bit of corn starch (to improve meat texture).

Prior to eating, put a little bit of oil in a pan and pour the bowl of slightly watery steamed meat into the pan and stew it. The purpose is to clear the wetness and get a crispy surface. The fire must be very small because this is how you get the crispiness. Stewing time is about 20 minutes.

Now the taucu part (I think it is called taucu but I am not 100% sure). It is fermented black beans. It is salty in addition to having a unique flavor. Until now the flavor of the meat is so-so, rather bland. But taucu gives it a good flavor. But taucu is black and you can't differentiate it from carbon. So be very careful not the burn the meat while you are stewing it otherwise you will wonder whether the black stuff is carbon or taucu. Ok, put in a small amount of taucu for flavor while you are stewing the meat. When the watery meat is about to dry the dish is done.

It doesn't matter, pork, beef, chicken all work. Ground or no ground. The steaming will cook the meat through whatever it is. The texture will be different depending and that adds some variety.
