You're watching the Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network in peace when all of a sudden your gf sits down and says, "why are you watching cartoons? you're not a kid anymore!" while jacking the remote and changing the channel.

what do you do ?

1) do you bitch slap her and take the remote?
2) whine
3) leave and find another tv

just tell her to stop bitching and make herself useful by making you some dinner and/or by fetching you a beer. smack her on the ass when she gets up and say "good girl."

a man has to watch his favorite programs in peace. it's not too much to ask considering all that you've done for her. a good girlfriend would know this and be more accomodating and cater you during your "me" time.

anyways, it kinda sucks that "cartoons" get such a reception cuz there's nothing inherently childish about drawings in particular, its just they have a TRADITION as being for kids

however when you show someone something more "matoore" their reaction is likely to be disgust instead of "wow that is definetely for a thinking adult"

ooh same goes to video games, everyone thinks its a kiddie thing even though so many adults play, but theres still that image as something childish, and consequently everyone thinks its the kids playing games that are rated M and they scream bloody murder

Most anime is sci-fi or fantasy, because any other genre would be easier (and in most cases cheaper) to make live action. I think it's safe to say that a lot of anime is freak and geek oriented.

Anime sucks. Not because of the stupid cliche characters or the predictable plots, but because of the people who like it. I've made myself perfectly clear on my stance about anime in the past, and my conclusion is that it sucks. So why are you watching it?

i like to watch full metal panic...i don't think it's either freak or geek oriented. It sorta reminds me of the show 24.

Do you remember the part when the father died when he fell of the mountain? Then the son goes to him and is pushing him to wake up. For some reason I actually expected him to get up and say something like "i was just joking i am fine" or something like. But I did not like it overall.

The only shows that I enjoyed were urusei yatsura and ranma 1/2 a few others also. But most of it was just the same story with other characters. But if you want a good show find something by rumiko takahashi. Most other things are just garbage.

I wasn't trying to say that you specifically are a loser for watching it. I used to be pretty into it myself. The reason why I don't watch it now is because I want to disasociate myself from die hard anime watchers and Japanophiles. If you like it, then go ahead and watch it. I just hope that you have enough sense not to turn into those fatass sailor suit wearing 40 year old non showering living in their parent's basement lowlife ass smelling English language bastarizing morons. I think you are probably okay.

And I don't really know why you are getting the idea that I hate Japan. If I truly did, I would not be here. It's more of like how Red Sox fans hate the Yankees. They don't really hate the Yankees, in fact they need the Yankees and the rivalry.

oh lord, I went to ONE..... repeat ONE anime convention in Santa Clara, and god there were some MAJOR weirdos. Everyone was all dressed up as some anime character, with people wearing things that they SHOULD NOT be wearing in public. I felt like rabid fans there congregated there to let themselves feel better about themselves, since there are equally weird people out there.

Dood, that movie is the equivilant of watching puppies or kittens drown in water. THAT is not a fun movie to watch. It's tear-jerking material... even for me. :(
