Programmer, of course.
After starting a compile, you can check a few quick threads, post, and go back to check the compile results.

hey! that's what i do. i get bored when i'm waiting for my code to compile and/or run. hell, i get bored when i'm waiting for a page on YW to load. that's why i usually have 3 or 4 YW windows opened. that's also why i think i may have ADD or ADHD.

something a person with ADD/ADHD is really interested in can also do good... ADD/ADHDers have an ability to hyper-focus. I get those... when I do, I get really into my work to the point of myself getting exteremly annoyed at any distractions and answering questions with a noise. Usually, I welcome distractions. :D

Me too, but it happens very rarely.
I could be more productive at work if it wasn't because of YW.
Damn you YW!!!

Well... any job, I guess. It seems that you can find more ADHD/ADD people in IT or engineering though (mostly programming, sys-admin, security stuff, architecture). Some (http://ask.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/06/18/0024228&tid=146) interesting discussions (http://ask.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/12/08/2314237&tid=146) on slashdot regarding this.
I'm aware that some people joke on this but for some (http://www.eloquentapathy.com/sections/thoughts/entertaining_my_mind.php) of us, it's not a bug, it's a feature. B)

One of the guys at my work has ADD. He doubles as one of the front-desk receptionists and mail clerk. With medication I heard, he does fine.

Ummm... I'm kind of skeptical on ADD/ADHD being classified as a medical disorder.
I checked out the list of symptoms for ADD and it seems to just be a fancy, medicalized version of "not being able to pay attention."

I dunno about the multi-tasking thing. I have major problems with paying attention (maybe not ADD tho but who knows, maybe I have a minor form of it) and I suck at that too, unless the three tasks involve eating, drinking, and lying down.

A ton of my friends have ADD and they are in a variety of majors (CS, Fiance, English, etc), suprisingly most are doing pretty damn good from half decent colleges WPI, Bentley, Skidmore, etc. If you have ADD just do whatever interest you.

Ouch! that hurts!
But to be honest it's not altogether off the mark. I'm a trial attorney and Yes, it does help to be somewhat ADD in my field. Far better to be a controlled ADD than a bi-polar disorder!
