This show reeks ass. Sorry. But the gay man better be a smart guy to tell the straight guy from a gay guy. Come on there must be at least half a brain in some of the guys. Kiss a guy and you can find out instantly. Oh god. The producers of this show need to check into asylum.

I avoid all reality-tv shows to begin with, putting a gay spin on it is not going to make me watch. However, depending on how it's portrayed it can go either way, since it's bravo channel i'm guessing it will at the very least be not a negative thing for the gay community. [/cynicism]

Unless the straight guy is thinking while he is kissing, "Blech! Just think of the money. Just think of the money..."

i think too that if the straight guy wins, he gets money but that if the gay guy wins, he doesn't. that's f***** up. yah...reality tv sucks. haven't made up my mind on whether to check it out or not.

It's wrong for the network to be playing around with this guy's emotions.

I think the premise of this show is totally wrong. What's wrong with a gay dating show? Why do you have to throw in this wrench where 'oh no, you might have a straight guy mixed in'... it promotes the usage of streotypes and effeminate characteristics to detect a gay or straight man. Like, "he moved his hand this way, he MUST be gay"... whereas gender-bending characteristics do not really tie into your sexual orientation. Also it makes it seem as if "oh no, gay people could be hiding anywhere" like some sort of twisted espionage thing or something.
I'm sorry I just think it's an offensive premise for a show that is only going to promote a whole lot of stupid thinking.

It's good to see that James was able to eliminate one of the straight guys -- without knowing he was straight.
It was interesting to see the straight guy almost break-down after his post show interview. Was it guilt?

Boy bowed to 1.6 million total viewers and averaged just over 1 million viewers in the 25-to-54 age demographic. While slightly under the audience yield of the Queer premiere three weeks ago, Boy improved its time slot's 25-54 ratings average for 2002-2003 by 434%.

James is on a role. Elliminated two more straight guys without knowing they were straight. B)

hahah i think this show is hilarious... but i think if James found out at the end.. lets say he chose a straight guy, that would be straightup horrible/sad/f***ing disgusting of the producers to pull, and even worse for his best girl friend to allow... but i think this show is pretty interesting.

He must know about some of 'em. I've never met a gay man who doesn't have at least a 3 out of 4 success rate with his 'gaydar'. I mean, he has to differentiate between straight and gay every time he sees an attractive man. Hopefully it's just that he's too smart to let the producers capitalize on any "Oh my God! You're straight?!" drama that would make him look the fool, and quietly dismisses them without making a big deal about it.

Well, if the producers let James know mid way through the series of the mixed group of gay and straight, James may just play it safe and stick with they guy he believes is truly gay. How he does that, I don't know. But he must have a sense of a few of the remaining folks.

Why is this more wrong than any other reality dating show? Have you seen For Love or Money? That shit's pretty wrong.

In the last episode, he does. I guess he is told this. I think.
It's interesting how he comes to the conclusion he does about the last straight guy, Franklin. And even though Franklin tries to explain why he went on the show, you can tell that James is not happy being mind fucked.

My guess is that the "is he straight or gay" twist was put in there for the viewing audience as well -- a sort of "do you really think you know what gay really is?".

he was saying how he wanted to break
stereotypes or whatever he was saying.
trying to defend himself.
but we all know you just went on the show
to try to win some money and break
into show business.
at least be truthful about that.
