i have been wondering about this. do gay men and gay women often become good friends with each other by virtue of their homosexuality? i haven't had that many gay friends, but i don't seem to recall ever seeing gay men and gay women in the presence of each other. i mean, i'd probably see it if i went to an event for gay people. and of course, it could just be because there aren't that many gay people around in the places that i've lived.

dude, sweets, that's cause you're not gay. if you're gay then you'd know that there are lots of gays & lesbians being friends with each other. sometimes the friendships get out of control. hey, doesn't that happen with straight people too?

i agree with kuyanyin....gays & lesbians are friends with each other. but there also a lot of gay/straight girls and lesbian/straight guys friendships. those, i think, are wonderful...

Most of the gay guys I know say that lesbians are scary and they don't like them.

does that mean that gay men and gay women start having sex with each other? because one lesbian friend of mine said she wanted to do this gay (male) friend of hers just for the hell of it. maybe she's just slutty. i was really confused by that, and she just assured me that i just wouldn't understand because i'm straight.

hummm.....that's too bad cuz i love my gayboy co-worker and i've had mostly good encounters w/ gayboys. it's very interesting to me that lesbians are stereotyped as "scary", "manly", bla bla bla.....it's really too bad. we actually are not and all my straight girl friends love us....maybe i need to clean my contacts.

I actually starting to notice that too...you don't usually have a lot of gay Asians hanging around with Asian lesbians. You tend to have non-straight Asians hang out with non-Asian folks more.

I think there's a lot of scary lesbians out there that may have influenced these decisions. But then again, there are a lot of scary gay men, too. The bulk of the homosexual population is on the tamer side.

I'd have to agree with this although I'm not sure what the "out of control"part means. But more to the point of your question, being gay may have been what caused the two to meet, but that's it. And not to jump down your throat or anything, but how is it you can see a man and woman and know if one or the other is gay or not, now I realize that sometimes its obvious even to straights but most gay men do not prance around like Bobby Trendy, and most lesbians do not stomp around like Rosie O'donnel. Your gaydar must be better than mine

huh??

i wasn't talking about gaydar.

i was talking about how when you are in a community (urban) there are sub-communities (i.e. we've got this asian website and thuis know lots of asians, assuming we're all telling the truth). same with the gay thing. for myself i know lots of gay people. perhaps its preseumptuous of me to assume that other gay people know other gay people. my bad. :(

and the comment, since it was directed to Su Wu Kung, was really about his statemnt that he doesn't know gay people who are friends. i was just saying taht there are gay people being friends.

the whole out of conttrol statement was specifically in my experience, that i've seen many lesbians i know who are frineds begin dating each other and then eventually the've all had relationships. i don't particularly think that's healthy friendship dynamics.

specifically, i was talking about gay men being friends with gay women, and vice versa.

i mean, i don't even see straight men having that many straight women friends, and vice versa. and with gay men and gay women, sexual attraction is ruled out, so you'd think that it would be even less occuring.

I'm gay and I have a couple of lesbian friends, they're pretty cool. Sometimes, they're butcher then I but that's expected. My best friend is a straight girl, she's the coolest person ever - you can't define her as my fag hag though because I'd never done to gay bars or gay clubs with her so yeah...
