Out at the Prom (http://www.msnbc.com/news/924401.asp?cp1=1)

Seriously, more power to them for knowing themselves so well and making a stand for it, but calling it a trend is something else. "Trend" in terms of numerical values and such, sure, but that link text makes it seem like it's the thing to do nowadays.

And the teacher who pulled the two girls out of line, that was messed up.

Speaking of proms, I know people who go with a person of the same sex, but just as friends. So... yeah.

^-- If you pay attention to popular attitudes and stuff... it kinda... IS the thing to do nowdays.

People lately have totally embraced the idea of bisexuality and homosexuality as a "cool" thing to do.

Well, I guess it depends where you are, but from my experience, the best thing a person could do in my high school to get popular was to come out.

Well, it's good to see that most people are becoming more open minded while some are even going so far as to *ahem* broaden their horizons.

Being bi/homosexual is a "cool thing to do?" That's a pretty peculiar thing to say. :D

That really disturbed for people to think that being bisexual or homosexual is the in thing to do.

But kudos to the people who are true to their heart. :D

I think that it's cool that people coming out and being accepted, but if they only become popular AFTER they tell people, it sounds kind of fishy there. It's as if that was the only reason. Then that's pretty bad.

Yes! I agree. This sort of rapid attachment to new views of sexual preferences that's being looked upon as a fad of some sort (meaning it's the "cool thing to do") somewhat, in my opinion, trivializes the Gay & Lesbian struggle for acceptance. Of course, that's my take on things in any case. It's a serious matter and it shouldn't be relegated to something that you try out because it's novel.

I'm not sure if I'm getting my point across successfully.

Yeah, well, welcome to LA... where it's the total Hollywood thing to do to tell somebody you're bi. ...Assuming you're a girl.

That's not just in LA, that's pretty much everywhere in the globe. What guy would say no to see 2 girls hooking up?

Werd. There seems to be an epidemic around here of 14 year old girls proclaiming their bisexuality.

That's cuz for a girl being bi is an extra plus to become popular with guys, cuz every men dreams of having a menage-a-trois at least once in this life.

Do you know any bi chicks by any chance :D

Unfortunately, I do. :P Well, most of them probably would chicken out in the face of a vagina, though.

There were two lesbians living side by side in my dormitory facility. There were secret trysts at night that EVERYONE in time became privy to (knowledge wise.) Soon all the guys would glance fondly at the two girls whenever they were around campus or the city.

It was quite an infatuation.

I've met quite few who say they are, but it seems to be just talk to get attention.

I guess I'll die being a menage-a-trois virgin

I see a double standard here. The "coolness" factor only applies to girls.

Personaly I think that, in general, most people who decalre themselves "bi" are either in denial (as in the case for most men) and/or phony (as in the case for women), or just confused. Men do not want to surrender their percieved masculinity by being a fag so they will say "yeah but I still have sex with women too" (denial/confusion) because declaring yourself a gay man is not an easy thing to do. For women, as noted in the above posts, it seems more tolerance/acceptance is given, and of course because men are pigs, and only another woman can truly understand and empathize with her, blah blah blah, and it makes you popular to boot! This kind of phony shit only hinders those of us who seek acceptance. Pick a team and go with it.

Hmm...that's an entirely different long-drawn-out issue.

Anyways, I actually went to my high school prom with a guy, so I can definitely say that it's a rewarding experience if you are able to do something like that. I can't necessarily say that it's a bold thing or a cool thing...it's suppose to feel "normal" or "organic".

If there are people who are doing this out of rebellion or for glamour, I think the whole prom experience will start to lose its magic. It's unfortunate that same-sex prom dates has to become such a politicized issue, but that's just the way that it is.

I can't stand girls who say they're bi, but don't think they'd hook up with another girl. Dude, EVERY girl finds other girls attractive (a bunch of girls would even grab a titty or lick a poon), but it takes a girl who's really legit to straight out have a girlfriend.

I have no problem admitting that girls can be HOT, I mean, seriously, a girl's body is so much more appealing to the eye than a man's body. (Penises look like little baby's arms coming out of their abdomen.) ...but I'd never be able to, like, have a relationship with a girl. That would just be weird for me.
