i understand that some of you have just graduated from school and are looking for jobs. if so, please post what kinds of jobs you are looking for, what city you'd prefer to work in, etc etc. maybe those of us who are employed can help you out.

woohoo, thanks! I'll start off:

Job type: software development/testing, web design, statistical analysis, or maybe publishing as a last resort. Hopefully something involving use of foreign language skills (Chinese or Japanese), though keep in mind I can't write either fluently at a professional level (especially not Japanese), only read.
Location: Boston metro, anything accessible on commuter rail or subway (preferably through South Station)
Relevant experience: 4 months in textbook publishing, 3 months in web development, 3 months in software development.

I'm a psychology major but I've had training in Management Information Systems

Job Type: information systems

Technical Summary:
Hardware: (Installation and setup of)
hard drives, zip and floppy drives, peripheral devices, motherboards, processors, etc.
Operating Systems:
Windows 3.1, 9X, 2000, and XP, Mac OS X

Software:
Microsoft Office 97, 2000, XP, Oracle 9i, SPSS, Webgain Visual Café, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Access

Programming:
JAVA w/ JDK (Visual Café), HTML

Professional Course Work:
Object-Oriented Programming

Designed and Programmed using Visual Café
Created a four stage plan that utilized four classes
Constructors, set and get methods passed information between classes.

Use of public, private, and protected access modifiers in addition to error handling ensures application security and reliability
Created a GUI using a JFrame that interacted with the end-user

System Analysis and Design
Individually Planned and Design a business process integration for a video store
The sixty-page report contained a proposal to the COO, which were addressed in seven individual deliverables
ˇ Using Visio created numerous statechart, collaboration, sequence, and CRC diagrams
ˇ Analysis phase contained risk, cost-benefit and user analysis documents
ˇ The documentation phases meticulously stated each step taken in the previous process, why they were implemented and how it will benefit the production of the To-Be system.

MIS Intern at KDNL-TV 30 St. Louis for a systems administrator
Webmaster for the International Student Federation and Asian Students Coalition

Foreign Languages: Cantonese/French

Interests/Hobbies: painting, traveling, exercising, developing websites and graphics, learning about others and different cultures

Location Preference: Midwest

that's pretty good System Admin experience for someone that hasn't yet graduated. unfortunately i don't know anybody out in the midwest. but i'm sure your experience will make you competitive.
