The 9X, right? SAAB sent me a mailer and a coffee table book about it. I'm glad I got the 2002, the shape is more appealing to me. However, I think the engine is/was overhauled for fuel efficiency. I think the page says like a 30% increase. Could be bs.

I think the change has GM fingerprints all over it because the car is being positioned as more of a SUV now. Another reason I grabbed my 2002. If it gets more SUV like my next car is going to be either the WRX, Audi or BMW.

well the change has GM platform sharing in mind it shares the chassis w/ the Vectra and other european GM cars. The opel vectra chassis will also be used in the next gen saturn L-series, Pontiac Grand AM, and Chevy Malibu compact sedans. The motor is unique to SAAB a small turbo motor.

The reason for the mainstream change for the 9-3 was to appeal to more audi and BMW buyers andmake SAAB 9-3linear a similar cost alternative to those makes.

2 more, higher power models of the 9-3 are on the way. w/ 210 instead of 170hp and lower and sportier suspension.
