He was recruited his sophomore year at Stanford, but stayed until his 3rd year. He's one of my good friends' first cousins.
Maybe you mean Kariya?

Umm...say what?
"Recruited"???
He was drafted in 2000 after his Junior year. He signed after the 2000 baseball season, too late to play ball in 2000.
Baseball rules prohibit the drafting of any player at a 4 year school who has not completed at least 3 season. It would have been impossible for him to be drafted as a sophomore.

Jason Kiriya Young...originally selected by Texas in the 29th round of the 1997 June draft, but opted to go to Stanford...a 1997 graduate of Berkeley (Calif.) High School, he was All-America as a senior and won two team MVP honors...signed by Tom Wheeler.
and
SELECTED in the second round of the 2000 June draft (47th overall).
No, if he graduated HS in 97, he spent 3 years in college before being drafted.
Compiled a 21-5 record with 327 strikeouts in three seasons for the Stanford Cardinal (1998-2000)
Are you sure of your information? And uhh...no, I did not mean Paul Kariya (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1000), the hockey player for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

No one wants to pitch for colorado since their baseball field is a hitter's park.
His ERA is gonna be very high.

His uncle Roger said he was recruited after his sophomore year but he didn't leave until after his junior year. Kariya is Jason's mother's maiden name.
I was going on whatever they told me. Sorry.
