i just wanted to throw this out there cuz i'm sick of working on this paper for finals.

anyone feel general animosity or weirdness between hapas and non-hapa asians on your campuses??? anyone wanna share experiences w/ this?!

i'm guessing all of u will have different ideas about this. my college is reportedly 89% white <_< and 4% asian, including multiracial asian. in other words, my college is MAD WHITE and it sux. i think most of u r at huge universities so u definitely get better diversity than that

I didn't know there was animonsity between Hapas and full-blooded Asians up until YW, but I don't think I would have been exposed in a situation to see it. Most Hapas I know tend to just stick to one side of their ethnicity, and that'd be it.

what animosity??

i would think there is more asian-on-asian animosity here on YW than anything else

Actually a couple of asians seemed to treat me a little bit better than other blacks once they found out my background........like if they're the only asian in a group of people, I'd be the first and sometimes only one they'd want to talk to.......

If you want to know about this then there is a wealth of info in this very forum. I'd link you up, but I don't feel like searching for all of it.

Shit happens, and so does a college's obviously one-sided racial make-up. Went to SF State in the 80's, and it was MAD YELLOW. Went to a high school that was primarily white. Didn't think of it then, but wonder how I could have flourished in a primarily Asian high school like Lowell.

And that's the subject of all Asian American sociology classes. Where should hapas be loyal to? The answer should be: wherever they feel most comfortable.

BTR and Alibaba both have the Hapa rage against AAs :P . I do not look caucasian, nor do I know many AAs, so I never had that problem...

they tend to not fall in any category. some hang with non asians, some hang with asians, some hang with a mix of people. some like rice, some don't. and the list goes on...

in the end hapas are just human people that feel joy and pain like everyone else.

I hang out with Asians mostly, yet I have some amount of rage against them. Makes for interesting conversations.
