oh ok, now i know what stilettos are.
nope, can't say it's a particular turn-on.
i always ask the girl if it hurts to walk when she's wearing something ridiculously uncomfortable (or seemingly) like that.
but i appreciate that she would wear something like that when she's out with me.
not that it's necessary.

or maybe we wear freaky ass shoes like that so that it'll hurt and you'll help us walk eh? eh? smart?

just kidding... i never wear shoes like that when i'm out with a guy because it usually makes me taller than them.

also because they hurt like a mofo.

some look really sexy though. i'll find one later and you boys can tell us if it's sexy

just buy whatever you like. i don't think the guy really cares what shoes you wear as long as it's not blatantly ridiculous.

and if he cares about you, he'd care that you can walk comfortably.

Are they a fetish? Not really. If a girl wants to wear 'em, that's fine. But seriously, have you seen what high heels can do to a woman's foot after way too much use? Yuck! Though I imagine the problem was much worse with the old school narrow and closed toed varieties but still...buyer beware.

On a side note, I think women need to be less concerned about how tall their shoes make 'em compared to the guys around 'em. If they like the shoes, wear 'em. Not every guy feels inadequate or intimidated by a taller girl...or do they? I know some of my friends do, but I don't. So, yes, women, stop being heightest, wear whatever makes you comfy and sexy, and come to Alex. Hahaha!=)

it was a warrior woman question indeed.

compare stilettos with the bound feet shoes woman wore in china way back in the day.

another tool for men to keep us down.

p.s. i know a number of guys with stiletto fetishes.

Being Chinese, when a woman comes back to my crib, she takes off her shoes, if not I normally ask her to take it off. And if it's time to get down and dirty fukinese style, I am just grateful to get buns. The last thing on my mind is to ask her to put her shoes back on! Stiletto's can be sexy, but god bless those thigh high stockings and thongs!

haha i can hardly walk in heels let alone stilettos. forget how sexy some guys think they are, id rather be in a pair of sandals with flat bottoms than wobbling around all day/night long

Er, I think not. Men may have created high heels and stilettos (did we?) but today you can hardly argue that there's any kind of REAL societal pressure that women wear the things. That is, men may like women who wear 'em (some men, rather), but society doesn't look down upon a woman who refuses to. If women as a whole would be more practical, they'd stop thinking such things were "cute" and "must haves" and wouldn't wear the darn things. Women are no longer slaves to men, they're slaves to fashion, which is, unfortunately, self perpetuating. Men may have started it but as far as I can tell, women are the ones who, despite being fully empowered to put a quick end to such things, choose instead to follow along with the trends. 'sides, you know as well as I do that most women dress more to impress other women than men.

but that's just what you think. i'd say most women dress more to impress men than other women. and i know this by being around women when it's just us women and being around women when men are present.

whether they are in a relationship also plays a large role in how much effort they put into their looks.

Well, you would know better than I.=) This is just what I've heard from many a woman. But you're right, of course a woman would want to feel attractive around a guy.

But I guess my point was really that women do a lot of things in the name of fashion, solely to outdo or keep up with other women even though guys don't always really notice or appreciate the effort. Actually, strike that. I think this point mosly pertains to shoes 'cause I know I appreciate nice revealing outfits, thongs, etc. as much as the rest of 'em. But the shoe thing? Most guys I know don't care too much about the shoes a girl wears...

they make our legs look longer.

kinda like how guys think that it doesn't matter if we wear mascara or not--but at the same time they appreciate longer lashes.

subtle conditioning.

Oh, I understand the function of heels but I think (well, assume) for the most part, a guy couldn't care less as to whether a girl was wearing a 3 inch stiletto heel vs. a much less aggressive and much more comfy (I assume) platform. I could be wrong though.

And once again, there's still no ACTUAL pressure on women to wear these things. Women are not looked down upon or punished if they choose not to wear uncomfortable shoes. Have any of you actually been TOLD to wear heels? Or did you just see all the other women wearing 'em so you followed suit?

And I still submit that guys for the most part wouldn't care if women collectively decided to abandon heels. I personally don't see any coercion or even suggestion coming from the guys these days. Where do you see it as coming from?

it would bother me too much if she was wearing very uncomfortable shoes. i would be thinking about how much it must hurt for her to walk.

i would argue that many women are unaware of the extent that they have been socialized.

don't get me wrong. i wear skirts and make-up and i think stilettos can make women look very feminine and pretty. but i'm not going to deny the role of socialization plays in the beliefs that i hold. i also think it's ludricrous for us to argue that--despite the fact that men don't have to do very much for their appearance but women have to 1) get manicures, 2) get pedicures, 3) get facials, 4) stay trim so they can wear fitting clothes, 4) get straight perms, 5) crimp their eyelashes, 6) shave their legs and armpits, 7) put wax on their lips, 8 ) apply colored powder to their eyes, 9) apply gooky foundation to their face, 10) wear panty-hose (ick), 11) wear thongs--that male domination plays NO role in this.

one day, i would like my bf to do 1-11 while i lounge around in jeans and a t-shirt. i want my little clown too.

hmmm... but i would have to say that some of these beliefs are perpetuated by women. yeah shaven legs and armpits are definitely good, but i don't find that many men actually give a damn if a woman got pedicures.
