South Koreans Offer Microwaveable Dog Meat
Animal Rights Groups Condemn Practice

SEOUL, South Korea -- While Westerners may cringe at the idea, millions of South Koreans see nothing wrong with filet of Fido.

An estimated 6,000 restaurants in Seoul alone serve dog meat. Now, entrepreneurs are branching out to offer dog meat to go.

The canine delicacy is packed specially so it can be heated up in the microwave.

One restaurant owner says she's started deliveries to -- in her words -- "provide to patients in hospitals and other people who want dog meat."

She says she gets about 100 orders a day. International animal rights groups have condemned the practice, but many Koreans consider the criticism a slight to their national pride.

what the hell is that? "filet of fido"??? why do these journalists insist on blatantly throwing unbiased reporting out the window?

I don't personally know any Koreans who eat dog, but I think we should start, and I think we should start with the little dogs owned by employees of NBC. I want to make that "pfft-pfft-pfft-pfft" sound that Hannibal Lectur makes.

out of curiosity, why shouldn't we be allowed to eat people who have been proven useless but yummy?

Yeah right, I wonder why there hasn't been as much focus on the French eating horse meat. Yeah nice unbias journalism there, "filet of fido."

i'm serious about my question about eating human meat.

but, with regards to the topic, it's apparent where the bias comes from. they'll talk about koreans eating dogs, chinese in chinatown killing live chicken (oh no!), but japanese eating raw fish? no way, that's cool, b/c we're cool with japan.

well to be fair, they make alot of noise about the japanese eating whale meat. personally i think it's not so much that they're selectively pointing fingers at this and that culture. what gets me is the fact that they don't point the fingers at themselves, or the US. what do you think hindu people think of american burger culture? yet they're not screaming at the US about it.

actually, if i ever had to eat another human being for survival reasons, i'd do it and know what pard i'd want to eat...

but the whole dog-meat thing is such a BS.. I am opposed to it yes, because I dont eat dog meat,.. and for few other reasons, but I respect peoples decision to do so. It's just another way for US to go, oh look at them other countries, we are sooo much better, humane, ect ect. Ah..so that's why those boys grilled a poor kitty on a bbq.

I don't even see what the problem is, in the U.S. we have tons of farms deticated to raising and killing cows and pigs. The animals even walk around in there own shit because we Americans don't want to clean it...

So whats so wrong with eating dogs?

i think we as human being should eat whatever we can kill just like animals in the animal kingdom if we can kill sumthing we should eat it.

even moths?

my cat eats moths and bugs... occationally, a bug would get into the house, she'd find it, chase/play with it for a while and, eventually, eat it. After she eats the "tasty?" treat, she looks for more. It's kinda funny to see her attack a exposed nail head on the wall thinking it'a bug.

anyways, I once owned a puppy that scummed to some disease and died, it still aches my heart... no eat dog meat for me.

My dog finds a liking to wasps and bees. I wonder how they taste.
Maybe people are so repulsed by dog eat meating because it's so unusual and dogs just have a thing. Like babies and kittens. You see a dog and you can't imagine somebody walking by and skinning it and then grilling it without being devastated. How about seeing a baby? Gack.

this is why I hate fucking "americans"

they're totally ignorant and disrespectful of other people's culture.

american cattle ranchers bred mutated cows for human consumption yet we rarely hear a wimper out of india.

btw slightly off topic I've eaten whale and it was delish! my gf loves dolphin sashimi mmmm mmm good

to be honest, i didn't think jay leno's joke was offensive. maybe because i'm not korean? but chinese people eat dogs too. he wasn't using racial slurs. it was more like a "roast" kind of a joke. and i can totally see how it would be funny if a korean american or asian american said the joke.

i understand why ppl talk shit on eating dogs... i wont do it.. but hell i've seen grosser things...
