so if you were rooting for a sports team, and they scored a goal, points, or
whatever... do you like jump up and down, and spill beer all over the floor?
or do you clap? do you take off your shirts and run around like those footie
players? or maybe pull down your pants like the french?
A French footballer has caused outrage in Turkey by putting his hand down his shorts to celebrate a goal.
Besiktas striker Pascal Nouma also took off his shirt when he scored against rivals Fenerbahce.
Angry fans accused him of violating conservative values in the predominantly Muslim country.
Senol Guler, a 40-year-old Besiktas fan, said: "I am ashamed of such action by someone from my team. Women and children were watching it too."
Nouma has apologised, saying he celebrated because he was overjoyed his four-week scoreless streak was finally over.
He said: "It was not against anyone. It was just a private sign of joy. I shouldn't have done it. If it hurt Turkey, then I am sorry."
Besiktas beat Fenerbahce 2-0 to remain at the top of the Turkish league, but the anger has yet to die down.
Haluk Ulusoy, head of Turkey's football federation, says Nouma faces disciplinary action and Turkey's television watchdog is considering banning the footage.
Even the government has commented. Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin said: "Nouma has always been a problem for Besiktas. From now on, if he wants to have a place in sports, he has to fix his behaviour."
Besiktas said Nouma's apology saved him from a possible fine from the club but some newspapers, including daily Milliyet, indicated the club was unlikely to renew his contract at the end of the season.
