What would you like to see from the YW Gallery?

Some of you will remember that we had some general categories for our YW Gallery -- the member gallery, pets, friend & family, etc...

Before I spend a lot more time fiddling with the gallery, I wanted to pose the question...what do you want from the YW Gallery?

Would you like to be able to create personal folders for yourself...? Would you like to be able to create categories?

That sorta thing. Thanks!

I haven't seen that forum yet...they allow members to upload photos directly to the forums?

Another issue is figuring out some limits to how much members can upload...I've kicked around the idea of asking members who want to store multiple albums or galleries to either carry a "Hosted By" YW logo or some other type of arrangement...

RBJ basicallyl has a whole forum dedicated to sharing your photos. It works like the other forums do, but people have to set up their own photoalbums on other servers and then IMG-link them to RBJ. I'd be posting more photos if I knew where to get some decent album space or if I could upload them directly. Also, it's a pain in the ass to account for what ISP's won't let you link to images on their websapce.

Is there a way to thread the galleries so that they sort of work like forum threads but you can upload the actual pictures? Well, I guess you can come up with a set group of threads like "political events/Activistm," "news," "self-portraits," "group photos," "couples," "nights out," so you don't have to make new albums over and over again. I can't imagine photos being so out there that you couldn't categorize them under some general headings.

rbj doesn't allow members to upload directly, so that's why i asked, you're gonna let people upload directly?

you can have like standard issue space for mebbe like mafia members? (will that increase post whoring?)
and then sorta like the YW Hosting, people can pay extra if they want more space?

and for regualr members, you can have a communial space? like restrict the size on how much they can upload? and the amount they can upload per person? and then delete older photos after a few weeks/months?

That's the thing...it's gonna come down to a space thang. Depending on how many peeps would be interested in having their pics hosted by YW...

Seems there's too much potential for abuse for direct uploads. Perhaps restrict it to Mafia and long-time members. Or have it be approved by admins before it goes through. Also, restricting direct links and forcing YW referrer to prevent bandwidth suckage. Should stop most abuses.

Yeah, hotlinking could potentially be a bad thang. Since the forums went down during the change, we sucked a lot less bandwidth per month. We'll see what happens next...
