here it is: quicktime doesn't work on my comp.

everytime i try to play a quicktime movie, it loads it, then plays the first second, then crashes my comp. i can't three-finger salute it to try and get it to stop either.

i've tried completely uninstalling quicktime and then installing it again. doesn't work. weird thing is, for quicktime files i have (like from a year or so ago) it works like it's supposed to.

anyone got anything for me? :nerd:

you mean quicktime files that are already on your hard-drive? or were you trying to play quicktime files from your browser? if it's the latter, it could be a problem with your plugin or browser.

it plays .mp4 files, but not .mov or .avi .wmv, etc. windows file types.

that's very strange then...
maybe when you uninstall quicktime, you can make sure you delete everything and clean out your registry of everything that has to do with quicktime, and then do a reinstall.

try original media player. i can't find the link at the moment but it's supposed to play just about anything. i think it's run opensource.

i'll try and dig up the link.

i just remembered that i saw something about a diff media player on a diff forum.

this plays some quicktime files, but some of them screw up and error. the error's not as bad as if i had to play it w/quicktime though. maybe the one you're thinking of is better?

i'm not sure how to access the registry... and i'm afraid that i'll take something out that will mess up my comp..

oh ok.
but just in case you decide to try. bring up a DOS console and type "regedit".

the program himura-dono was referring to was media player classic
get it here
http://vobsub.edensrising.com/mpc.php

but it doesnt solve the playing problem with the files in the browser
its just an alternative player that plays quicktime files
