Do any of you keep an online journal? I know a good number of us do, since this whole thang started over at LiveJournal.com (a free online journal service).

yep. but it's kept in a secret place. if you can find it, you can read it.

i tried keeping one on my own website. but then realized i don't have that much to say about myself and my life! hahhah!

i don't either. my journal consists of me pasting smiley faces and analyzing them...

i have an online journal, but it's private. whoever takes the time to actually try and find it can go ahead and read it. i don't write very often, but when i do, it's normally pretty long.

I have two. A private one for my deepest thoughts (99.9% of them being very bitter thoughts) and a public one for just any old crap that I feel like sharing. My blog is simply my entire webpage.

i have one. its open to whoever wants to read it. i rarely hold back. i try to keep it entertaining and thoughtful. i use it to express my own opinions in a manner that can and probably will offend some people.

anyway back in topic. i personally think blogspot is an eyesore. lots of people are posting their journals on their personal webpage these days. btw u forgot to mention xanga. oh and theres dead journal...a total bite off a livejournal

i used to have a personal journal over at Xanga. but I kinda got sick of it. it was turning into one giant inside joke. so i haven't updated it for a month. now the only thing i blog about is politics, and that over on blogger.

yeah, i keep a livejournal.
and its funny... I've never talked directly or met anyone from there, and the ppl who read my journal probably know more about me than people I've known all of my life...

Sometimes it's easier to share personal things with people you don't know, who'll never really have much of a real consequence in your life.

I have a blog. I like it better than Live Journal because it's more customizable. You can make a pretty spiffy layout in LJ, but I guess it's easier in a blog.

The great thing about LiveJournal is the sense of community that's built right in. When I first signed up, I just thought everyone pretty much kept to themselves, which is what I did, just using the journal as a diary.
But once you realize that you have an audience (friends who can see everytime your LJ is updated), you start..."performing" a bit more.
BTW...for those of you using LJ...have you tried downloading the Sema client for it? It's basically a small program you download to your computer and you can post from within there. Get it -- it rocks. The client itself almost made me stay, despite the restrictions that come with an account.

How do you like using Greymatter? I tried using it for a bit and then moved to movabletype...

I'm resisting the peer pressure to start one at Xanga, cuz i already have a livejournal, so i feel it's kind of pointless to keep TWO.

>> ive been switching back and forth between livejournal and xanga for a while. a lot more people read my journal when im on LJ...why? i really dont know. i like xanga for when i need a little more privacy and i like LJ when i feel like ranting and rambling to whoever is willing to listen.

I'm too stupid for Xanga. I don't know how to edit or delete entries. I have an account that I use only to comment on my bf's journal, though. That's about it. I'm an avid supporter of LJ, dammit. LJ ROCKS! It's what first brought YW together. If it weren't for AB and LJ, yellowworld.org wouldn't exist.

yeah if this isn't the worst case of megalomania-- quoting myself.
anyway, i stepped over the edge in may. shit. :( so now i have an lj i read for old entries and for reading others' ljs, and i have a xanga that i rant on.
sometimes i feel strange that a journal-- which is supposed to be like a private thing right-- is usually so public out there. so i wonder if i'm "corrupting" my journal experience by selecting to write stuff to appeal to other ppl. it's a good thing not that many ppl read mine so i can still write random offensive crap whenever i feel like it-- most of the time. But b/c of the public nature of things i still hold back.
so yeah... am i being true to myself? yada yada yada. who cares right? :)

I have xanga. I created it just to post comments on other people's journals, but I ended up using it to post a few random tidbits here and there that weren't content-filled enough to dedicate an entire entry on CH to. *Shrug*

I blog too much, too. Not as much as I used to. Which was pretty much every day. Maybe it's because I use three blogs. Eh...
I would like to whore myself to you all.

I have Xanga but it's a little too restrictive for my tastes. I got it to comment on someone else's page, but I eventually became a dedicated blogger too. If I were starting a new journal, I'd recommend using something else. As for me, I haven't made the switch, because I don't wanna lose the audience I built up.

What's this "credits" and "code" stuff with LJ? I read a few LJ journals on a semi-regular basis, but don't use LJ myself [1].
Is it something that one needs to pay for...one time? Subscription? Based on data use?
I feel a bit fuddy-duddyish, not knowing the difference between LJ and Xanga and Diaryland and Asian Avenue or whatever the fuck else is out there.
[1] I use Blogger and include it on the front page of my site. If it won't run "on" my site, then a journaling site/software is useless to me -- the social aspects don't come close to outweighing the control I want. Esp. since my site is more for putting up pictures.

I fill my Xanga blog up with nonsense. I don't think there's one meaningful entry in there about life, love, relationships or friendships.

I think Meena got me started up on this Xanga thing but after like 4 entries I realized that I had only about..um...four things to talk about of any substance whatsoever. Upon realizing that the future of my Xanga journal was not looking so great, I quit.

i have a question about online journals, or blogs. why are people ever surprised when someone reads it? or why do they keep one if they're saying things that they don't want just anybody to read? i mean... it's on the web, out in the wide public space...

It's very much like when you know a surprise birthday party is being planned on your behalf and you have to act excited anyway when everyone pops up from behind the furniture in a darkened room. You can't very well declare that you don't find the surprise very enthralling.

on-line journals kinda remind me of ed tv. 'cept you can play pretend.
i used to keep an on-line journal, but most of my entries were marked private. i think a lot of people may keep their entries public because they want feedback from readers...but not necessarily from people that they know or are acquainted with.

maybe...some people have them because it lets them talk about their day or whatever and vent out when there's no one to vent to. or to let everyone know what's going on all at once instead of telling person to person and so on...you know what? i have no idea what i'm saying...i just started talking...haha bye now!
