did anyone watch the YES Broadcast of the Houston Rockets versus the New Jersey Nets last Saturday (3/8)?
i think i heard the following comment by one of the broadcasters.
(late in the 4th quarter)
broadcaster1: Yao Ming understands a lot more English than he lets on....
broadcaster2: A lot of Chinese people do that.... pretend they don't understand what's being said....
i'm not sure if I heard the conversation correctly. can anyone verify this for me? if it is true, would you consider the comment racist?

yeah, its not really racist, but he'll probably get fined or something. He should focus on the basketball more than sociology.

i agree that it was a dumb comment rather than blatantly racist, but i don't know about getting fined for it, i mean shaq's notorious statment was much more blatant and racist and he never got fined, when jason williams got fined he said something offensive towards homosexuals as well

I wouldn't say it's totally racist but it sure does sound ignorant

wait why do u guys think its not racist? doesn't that go along with the attitude that asians are sly, greedy and shifty, and we are here to take the job from honest, hard working white ppl?

If it's true that that's what the guy said, I think it's absolutely racist. What standard are you guys using to say it's not racist? The implication is that Chinese or Asian people are a lot more sneaky and shady than they lt on.
