Alright, it's a pretty straightforward movie and you know what to expect from the trailer/tv spots.
Oh wait, lemme rephrase that, its not at all straightforward, in fact, the "plot" is everywhere. You really get the feeling the writers made stuff up as they went along. You've got the typical shots at asians (from Tom Arnold and the black principal from Boston Public) and some "hip hop flava." Hell they throw in some extreme chase scenes for the white folks too.
Anyway, this is action-porno in every sense of the word. Everything else is just filler. Even on a comedic level, i didnt find it as funny as Romeo Must Die. In RMD, Anthony Anderson was pretty funny (funny in Barbershop too) but his bits are pretty weak here.
DMX is a thief who cares for his daughter and of course wants her to grow up with good principles, That Eva chick is a kung fu stripper who faces off with Kelly Hu (wow, i just noticed, it's East verses West, West coast that is, how subtle). Jet Li is a Taiwanese agent who'd rather speak with his fists (which makes sense cuz he's still got a lil trouble with his lines). Kelly Hu is Dragon Lady for the new generation. And Mark Dacoscos (sp?) is an arms dealer, who...fights too.
Anyway, the action scenes are satisfactory, but expect many a grown-inducing scene. Is it so-bad-its-good? Hmm, duno, depends on your tolerance level.
