Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to invite you to participate in the annual Community Partners Conference hosted by the National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium (NAPALC). This year’s conference is funded by State Farm and will address a variety of issues of concern to immigrants, refugees and other newcomers, particularly in a post-9/11 context. I hope you or your representative will be able to join us. Attached for your review, please find the following materials:
Conference Registration Form/Travel Scholarship Request Form
Preliminary Agenda
The Conference will take place on Friday, September 20 at the Governor’s House Hotel in Washington, D.C. There is NO FEE to attend this conference and breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Speakers will address various topics regarding issues concerning immigrants and other newcomers, and the organizations that serve them. To ensure productive work sessions, the number of participants at the meeting will be limited.
The Conference will allow participants to dialogue with each other, the speakers, and NAPALC staff to identify and prioritize issues of concern, as well as identify potential collaborations with NAPALC and other national organizations to address these issues.
The Governor’s House Hotel in Washington, DC will serve as the conference site. For hotel accommodation, please call (202) 296-2100 or (800) 821-4367 and ask for the special group rate for the Community Partners Conference. Hotel rates are $129.00 for single occupancy or double occupancy.
There will be limited travel scholarships available. Priority will be given to individuals traveling from long distance and those representing emerging APA ethnic groups. Requests will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Scholarships are for travel and hotel accommodations only, provided you submit original receipts. Please return attached request sheet ASAP to me at the fax # (202) 296-2318.
If you have any questions or comments about the September meeting or NAPALC, please feel free to contact me at (202) 296-2300 ext. 120 or by e-mail (bdeguzman@napalc.org). I look forward to hearing from you soon.
