so what are your thoughts on guys that cry? i personally dont have any problems with it when a guy sheds a few tears (as long as hes not one of those overly-sensitive types), though my guy friends would sooner bleed than let anyone see their tears.

I think the same. I don't want an overly-sensitive guy that bawls at everything, but I think it's pretty nice to see a guy being tough enough to look vulnerable. I've seen the toughest guys at my school cry, and it's cute. Kinda comforting too, knowing that they're not all rock.

Gah you women want everything, strong yet sensitive, independent yet dependent . Oh the humanity, j/k.

I haven't cried in a long long time, until I was down at ground zero on the aftermath of 9/11. I volunteered to go down to relieve the other doctors and residents from St. Vincents and the surrounding hospitals. I remember on my down in the ambulance thinking, be strong, don't cry and expect the worse. After an hour or so of doing my rounds, I felt overwhelmed, snuck away for a few minutes, sat down, buried my head in my hands and just started to cry. It was so unexpected.

I think [b:5f9a581f5a]anyone[/b:5f9a581f5a] would have cried after your experience. Hell, I remember crying after watching image after image of people holding pictures of their lost loved ones, pleading into cameras for help.

I rarely cry when it's stuff that has to do with me, it's usually at really odd, cornball, wussy moments. One of my cheesiest that I recall: in the movie [i:5f9a581f5a]Sommersby[/i:5f9a581f5a], starring Richard Gere and Jodi Foster, at the end, when Gere's character looks into the crowd and cries out to his wife because he can't find her. Yep, that's certifiable wuss-material.

But one of the moments I remember crying pretty freely + openly was during the KASCON conference in 1993.

KASCON is a Korean student "empowerment" conference put on every year -- for whose purpose I'm still trying to figure out. I was there on assignment from the Korea Times English Edition and the first night I got in, the 1,000+ hotel full of Koreans were partying the night away. Early the next morning, everyone was so damn hung over that barely half the conference showed up for the morning seminar.

I was pretty discouraged by everyone's attitude, but then they started showing this movie by Elaine Kim called "Sa-i-Gu," a documentary on the LA Riots. I cried my eyes out, but it wasn't the kind of huffing and puffing bawl. My eyes were open the entire time and tears just kept rollin' down my face. This black reporter from the SF Chronicle, I think, just kept looking over at me, a little uncomfortable, but I didn't really care -- the whole room was in tears.

And, with that, AB kills another perfectly good thread!=)

One of my close friends says the only time he cries is when he plucks his nose hairs.=/

Last time I cried (streaming tears, no sobbing) was when my friend had a really rough break up with his girlfriend. I'd looked to them for hope that I might one day find my "perfect" match but when that ended, it just made me relive my most recent break up. I hate that shit. Bah!

The only movie I've ever cried to was Cocoon during that scene when the old dude that didn't let his wife play in the energizing pool when everyone else was finally brought his wife there in failed attempt to revive her. So sad.

Certain Simon & Garfunkel songs give me a mild "about to cry," sinking feeling 'cause they remind me of when I was in pre-school and my dad would drop me off in the morning. Every morning I was miserable and felt so alone. And all the while they'd be playing Simon & Garfunkel LP in the background...=P

I tear up too, when I pluck my nose hairs. Best present I ever got was from my brother, the laser nose hair remover. Now, I don't cry!

Nope, you haven't SEEN messed up sleep schedules until you've hit college, when people like me sleep after the sun is well up. 8-)

Perhaps you should decrease the wattage of damage you allocate to your body :D

Maybe try melatonin?

Maybe you should go into medicine. Lots of insomniacs there.

On a busy week (7 days) I average around 20 - 30 hours a sleep, for that week. But after that, I spend the next day sleeping.
