why do asians as a group in america have to be so ethnocentric that they segregate themselves and claim that their own group is supperior? Korean Pride, Taiwanese Pride, Chinese Power, VP, etc... why do these buzz words ring so hard in our own hearts?

well, for the Chinese it's because we're the Center of the World (Zhong Guo--> the Central Country) and because we get cocky over our 5000 yr old civilization. And cuz we RULED a lot of the other Asians a whiles ago. =D

asian people fight amongst themselves because there's just not enough solidarity in asian america yet. we don't have a distinct asian american identity. furthermore, asian cultures can be very different from one another, and there's also language barriers.

when beau sia was asked "what do you think of the asian american identity?", he answered "what asian american identity?". the funny thing is, that's exactly it, a big part of the asian american identity is that it doesn't really exist.

I think it is funny, that Asian will diss each other, while there are a lot bigger problems around them. Sounds, like another group, that I know all to well, *cough*blacks*cough*. Even my friend Lisa is pretty bad, she says "Mandrin speakers smell funny. And she hates Viets". I don't know why, but she is surrounded by both groups every weekend.
