The one about men having small penises is sooooooooooooo annoying. I do a joke in my comedy act where I talk about the fact that the media perpetuates that stereotype, especially the porn industry.

You never see an Asian guy in porn.

You see White guys, Black guys, Hispanics, Jews, Muslims, Midgets, Parapelegics(Spelling is not correct),Amputees, Midgets in Wheelchairs with no arms or legs, dogs, cows, horses, but no Asian men.

Then I go into another area of porn but that's for another time.

This kind of stereotype makes it harder for Asian men to be seen as sexy by any female

I think many Asians don't like being Asians culturally or physically and thus they emulate other cultures(even dating and marrying whites) and also try to "look" non Asian, i.e. hair dye, eye surgery.

This needs to stop prontisimo. We are going to lose a great deal of power in the next generation as kids who are Ameriasian will most likely choose to be white than Asian and most likely will have Caucasian surnames (it's the whole Asian women marrying white men syndrome).

How are we ever going to get Asians into politics or into mainstream leading man roles!

I thought the whole point of being Asian American was to incorporate "American-ness" with Asian-ness... I don't see anything wrong with hair dye and skater punk clothes.

Asians-Americans like the folks on YW seem to be in short commodity though, but maybe that's just what I'm seeing.

I think for younger people Asian-Americans, especially those living in predominatly white neighborhoods have a hard time accepting their heritage and the fact that they're different. To a teenager or a college student trying to fit it, it can be tough. Despite living in LA, a lot of kids I know try to push away their heritage because it's not the mainstream. Most people, it seems, grow out of it and assert their identity.

I spent the summer in New England for schooling at one of the ivies, and I was shocked by the expectations for me to be a math wiz(I was a social science student) and for me to be quiet(I tend to get obnoxious). Also there were the inevitable culture clashes, from other students didn't like it when people talked in other langauges to not being understanding of certain cultural differences I and other Chinese students were raised with such as losing face. I never had to deal with that kind of cultural intolerance because I live in an Asian area.

It occured to me that sometimes it's not really the skin color and the look that bothers people, it's the different ways people think inside which becomes associated with one's race.

I think a lot of that experience is why I'm a lot more politically concious in terms of Asian-American relations cause of the experience and eventually wandered my way to YW.

grassroots is fine. BUT I'm also a firm believer in Thurgood Marshall-NAACP-style legal action. If you can't change hearts and minds through persuasion, then change it through the LAW. Have the EEOC get on the cases of the discriminatory porn industry and FORCE them to hire Asian American men. Hell, there have gotta be qualified Asian American men. BTW it should take at least 2 to do real porn, so I don't think whacking off on screenis really gonna be helpful. If anything, that'd be bad cuz that doesn't really eliminate any stereotypes and doesn't do any education-- it just reinforces the stereotype that Asian men can't get play.

BTW, true story, the week that Andrew Cunanan went on his rampage a gay friend called me. I was scared of this guy and I had never been. But that image of Cunanan killing people was ingrained in my mind.

Sure he was a flash in the pan, but he did leave a lasting impression in my book. Though it has dissapated since their hasn't been anyone of his ilk since.

There are a few Female Asian porn stars in the business in America. I don't know of any Asian men. If Asian women were stereotyped as prudish those Asian women would help break that stereotype.

I am sure Asian men have tried to get into porn just as Asian men have auditioned for the Real World, Fear Factor, etc but because White America doesn't deem Asian males as sellable to the public they are never hired.

I've seen Asian people on those shows and guess what 99.9% of them are hot Asian females.

i had to take communal showers all through high school because i played sports. i tried not to look at any penises, but yeah, when you're in the locker room with 20+ naked guys or something, penises are always just at the corner of your peripheral vision.
