yes, and i like putting vinegar in it. i also like eating it when it's being heated - you know, with the little flame underneath the bowl? there's a restaurant that my family always goes to for this in los angeles - mpv seafood - if you're in the area, you should try their shark fin soup - it's just all shark fin and they don't put in any other junk like crab meat.

Eating shark fin soup is immoral.
Shark is an endangered specie, and the top predator in the ocean food chain.
What pisses me off is when fishermans cut off shark fins and throw the finless shark back into the ocean

i love shark's fin.
$10 bowls aren't really the premium stuff.
it's not all that bad, they actually breed
sharks to make the shark's fin soup here in thailand.
it's like saying eating chicken is immoral.
there are laws against cutting wild sharks now.
-_- it's just like eating any 'ol farm animal.

it's their fault for growing such scrumptious fins.

yeah but we're not forcing sex on sharks. just cutting off an essential body part for our consumption. and not because we need to eat it for survival. we're just eating it because it tastes good. so it's all good. eat more shark's fin. it's good for the bone structure. like smoking.

Exactly why I hate going to Chinese weddings LOL. And what is up with waiting until the whole table finishes one dish before they bring in the next one? I always luv it when they give us everything at once so you can fish out the stuff you like with the stuff that will make you barf. That away I just focus on the dishes I like until they are all gone and I'm stuffed

I love shark's fin soup. I love the kind my mom makes. It's so good. "Ching teem" (I think that's what my family says). I don't mind having the chicken shreds in it, but when there's really gooey stuff in it, I don't like it. That stuff, I don't know what it is, it's kind of white-ish, clear-ish, and it looks like it has ruffles on it, it's something from the sea, I don't know, but when that's in there, it's good, too.

sharks fin is decent, but not worth the 100 dollar price tag.

Are you guys thinking of Abalone? It's illegal here in the US now, but I remember my father ordering that when we were younger. Apparently it's endangered now.

Yuck. Hate 'xuet yi' as well. It's just not very palatable (not to mention tasteless) and I always choke on it :frown:

I love it when my mom makes a pot of it at home i drink close to 10 bowls.
We dont use the extremely high quality kind of shark fin thats why we put lots more in for a BIGGER pot.
Once you start you cant stop.
now for the high quality stuff they go for as much as 1000 dollars per pound or per fin.

Ahhh, I just did an internet search. I guess it's the "white abalone" that's endangered, maybe the other kinds are ok? I don't know, I remember it was pretty tasty though.

I haven't had shark in YEARS, though.
